Bees were the symbol of the house of Bonaparte. It might be Napoleon III era imitating the style of Louis XV/XIV. I don’t think it’s fake, I would guess it’s souvenir ware since the bee would not have been used prior to Napoleon I. It’s like a Charles and Di mug but prettier. The German bowls looks like it’s imitating the Flora Danica ware. It was originally made for Catherine the Great as a gift and is still in production today.

Hi I know I’m very late to this video but wanted to share a tip with you all .. anytime the main stream shops have sales , whatever they don’t sell they have to give to charity shops in the area so a lot of things you find in bulk like the rug are new bits that didn’t sell when on sale , so effectively your buying it new as no one else has used it just a lot cheaper 👍most shops do this but I know the bigger names defiantly do so keep your eyes on the sale months then when ended go charity shops for even better bargain 💰
@Rosa73883 жыл бұрын
I'd have picked up the baskets, the lacy flower bowl and the blue and white trinket boxes. One lesson I have learned is to never ever let go of baskets unless they're completely unsalvageable. I had a wander around the shops recently and baskets are now ridiculously expensive. I have few that I bought about 10 years ago, and they would be priced 10 times more than what I got them for. I found a lot of styles that I knew my mum had bought years ago for pennies really in comparison- she can refresh the look of her home by just changing around items like her baskets. So great job on snapping up those baskets at those prices! I'm also loving blue and white ceramics at the moment. Probably because I watch 'The Chateau Diaries'- do try check out a few vlogs, Mr C, if you haven't watched it. I think you'd really like Stephanie's channel. As for what to use the little containers for, how about using them as bonbonnierres? Hide little sweets in them and keep them on your desk or on your bedside pedestal. Because they're not glass, no one will know they have sweets in them except you and so no one will eat them up before you get to them!

Re. The green bowl - Schumann is part of the Arzberg brand, which itself is one of the better-known, slightly classier German porcelain brands. I searched for the pattern but nothing came up. As you said yourself, probably added to the bowl. Nice finds!
@Janmification2 жыл бұрын
I would add that the Schumann bowl with the reticulated edge looks to have been decorated in the Japanese style. Very nice bowl. Perhaps not for keys to scratch the transfer/hand painted interior. Transferware can be detected by close examination to see if there are dots from printing. Hand painting can be detected by differences in paint application and depth. Hope this helps.

Great haul, Mr. C! I love the baskets and the china, you scored big. People leave good stuff outside here as well, it's such a little treasure hunt sometimes. Pre covid some community centres held a " Free Stuff" day. People would drop off all kinds of goods, including furniture, tools, bikes and canned food that was not expired. At the end of the day (usually a Sat) volunteers would take what remained, to a charity shop. Cheers from Toronto, we are having a heatwave at the moment. Xx
