Charlene is correct, once you have passed the ‘working class’ statue then you are no longer lower class. If you are a self made millionaire you can afford to take time off. A person working a regular job getting paid minimum wage can’t THATS the difference.

Interesting debate.... I think both ladies had interesting things to say. Agree with Carol that a working class person can maintain a sense of the values they had when working class even after getting wealthy. But agree with Charlene that money talks - and a poor person walking into a room of full of wealthy people can be made to feel less than - regardless of what social class they may have come from.

So it is the wealthy who want to feel more superior than someone who is from a poor family. They want to put themselves higher to make themselves feel better.

Carol, you are totally right , I grew up with certain council house snobs. They were no different to the rest of the estate they just had in their own heads they were better.

It matters not where you were born or what education you had or how much money you had or have, it matters more how you live your life as in having morals and principles and being kind to yourself and others. It is just a title which is given to people and is so out dated now. Being rich in terms of financial wealth does not make people a nicer or better person than someone who is not rich or wealthy. I think its snobbery.

The black lady contradicted herself when she said you're not work g class as "you dont come from...dont have same experiences, opportunities" as someone working class but Carol literay fits the definition.

@1:40 Brits dont have an obsession with class. People make out we have when we dont. Perhaps the black lady needs to speak for herself. Carol already said class never mattered to her. As a Brit I feel the same and have wondered lately why people keep making out class matters when I dont feel it does.

Please stop calling Charlene ‘the black lady’. She has a name, just like you wouldn’t refer to Carol as the ‘white lady’.

It depends on our experience and that's what Charlene was talking about. I think it's kind of dismissive and privileged for even a self-made millionaire to actively refer to themselves as still 'working class' when they're living a life of luxury. Yes, you came from a working-class background but you're not working class anymore, not really. I also think it depends on what part of the country you're from as well in terms of how prevalent the class system is
