Just because he was the first don’t make him the goat. He had great marketing behind him because nobody was like him that they had seen. Except for maybe Julius Irvin that’s it. Everything happened right for Jordan. Came in at the right era to get that type of marketing push. He got the right coach and right player to help his success in the 90s. And he never had top teammates go down for a long period of time during those 90s runs.

Probably because Hakeem put him out of the playoffs at least twice. How disingenous. Excellent interview. Barkley was the leading scorer on that dream team so that should tell you something about how good he really was. When he got his shot in the finals against Jordan's Bulls he averaged 27/13 so it certainly wasn't his fault they lost. Nobody was beating Jordan once he got them to the finals....nobody.

Charles Barkley was a great player. An MVP. LeBron has never played someone as fierce on both ends as Charles. Karl Malone was a great player, never won a title. There were just as many great players then as there are now. Only the defense was more intense then. The all=star games now look like a joke, just like the all=star game back then looked like a joke. The difference is that the all=star games back then looked like the regular season now. The only time I see really intense defense today is in the 4th quarter of a playoff game, and even then it is officiated differently. They don't want people being touched now so tey can protect their product. And the refs go waaaaaay out of their way to protect LeBron. The series the Lakers just lost to Denver was a joke when it comes to officiating. Most Laker games the other teams gets 7 free throws while the Lakers get 25. Check out the box scores in the Laker/Nugget series. It is like that every time the Lakers play.
