Four years. Four. It's always been "wait until next year." "Next season is going to be different." "Better times are coming." We've all been waiting, and I wouldn't even consider myself a Sixer fan. The boy *WON'T* shoot. Not "can't." Not "might." *WILL NOT* shoot. Midrange. Perimeter. *WILL NOT.* Every year, his TWO-point attempts have been going down steadily to where he's not even *attempting* ten shots a game. 6'10". Won't shoot. Single-digit rebounding average every year. He's a point guard averaging single-digit assists every year. Blocks and steals he's got, but he's not commiting himself to be a full-time defender, like Rodman or Draymond. He wants the ball, but won't shoot the ball. He wants out? He had to be in first. WON'T. SHOOT.

@@naothi Exactly. Rodman took the shot when it presented itself, but he wasn't on anyone's team to be a shooter. Today, the game isn't physical enough for a Rodman-style defender, especially if you're supposed to be a point guard. You shoot or you dime. He doesn't excel at either.

I would say it’s even worse than “won’t” because it’s a combination of both. Don’t let the off season threes fool you, while fixing ft% won’t fix a jumpshot, a telltale sign of a bad shooter is a bad ft%. @@in-vision652 But there has to be a balance. NBA Contracts are becoming more and more meaningless and it hurts fan interest when players aren't interested in playing with their team. Players would rather superteam up in a more desirable market than actually give a damn about the team and fans who supported and pay for their time there. Ben has been give plenty of opportunities to expand his game in all directions but his refusal to do so after 5 years has really irritated the fans who passionately defended their #1 overally selection for years. Philly believed in Ben Simmons and his potential, he spat in their faces by choosing not to pursue it, and now the average people paying for his IG Feraris are understandably upset. It's not that the owners deserve all the power over a players future either, but at some point players need to honor the contracts they sign when they made the commitment.

@Blick Blick doc and the team definitely deserves a share of the blame but Simmons was 80% at fault for their playoff woes. As of now no one's really dissing him from his team off-season. No one. From the reports, Simmons is just kicking up dust like a child on a tantrum because of some soft criticism he received after the game 7 loss. Dude is literally a man-child. All the criticism he receives are justified. He has been the same player for 4 years and dude gets criticized and suddenly it's everyone being insensitive and mean. What????
@raitorino7520

@Blick Blick I don't hear this 'entire team threw him under the bus' BS. Doc literally said 'I can't answer that question' as opposed to saying 'No, i don't think he's that guard.' It was more of "He needs to work on his game" and not "Bro is just straight up bad." Literally soft ass criticism. Embiid literally said the turning point was when they passed up an open shot which turned into a free throw and that he (Embiid) deserves some blame too. The media cuts out the last part. It's still pretty valid since they would've been tied and they could've won if Ben wasn't so scared to shoot. 4 straight games with 0 points in the 4th quarter. Was that anyone's fault but Ben's? Go on where's the lie? Where's the slander? Y'all got a report of the team throwing shade at him? Because ever since the end of their season, the 76ers had said they'll be working on Simmons and nothing else. Honestly, the reason why fans are piling up on him is because he played like shit. He's been in the team for 4 years and he hasn't done anything to improve himself. Isn't it entirely his fault that he can't shoot freethrows and doesn't have value outside of his defense and his ball handling? Is that anyone's fault but his? Dude literally brought this on himself.

But the thing that REALLY blew my mind was that not only were they saying that before he entered the NBA, they CONTINUED TO SAY IT for YEARS after Simmons entered the league. His numbers were NEVER EVEN CLOSE to LeBron's...and neither were his abilities...yet the media kept pushing this insane narrative the Simmons was "just like LeBron James". I've never really followed the NBA SUPER closely, but I definitely recall watching Simmons even prior to him being drafted into the NBA and CLEARLY seeing that he NEVER had that drive to become one of the all-time great NBA players. We’ll see. I was never a fan of Morey... outside of landing James Harden who no one knew would become a star what has Morey done? He’s no jerry west. He didn’t even take the time to learn about Philly culture before he opened his mouth. The #1 thing you don’t do in Philly is make a promise you can’t keep. You know it’s your 1st season why utter the words championship or bust? He better start calling these teams up with (IN HOUSE COUNTER OFFERS) and stop leaking it to the press. Philly press is the enemy because 90% of them aren’t from Philly and they just want to be the next Skip.

@@reydyln has Morey EVER overachieved? Take a look at Houston! Year after year after year of UNDERACHIEVING! He even lost them the all those Chinese fans for being an idiot! Morey the Moron is his nickname. He will do for Philly what he did for Houston.

The Late Kobe could have really helped Simmons confidence. Just putting some of that mamba mentality in him. Simmons needs to shoot the ball even if he goes 2 -15. Keep shooting.

Keep the beans. He is Sixers property for 4 more years. He doesn’t have the cache like a Harden or Kyrie to demand anything. And I promise I’ll be there opening night to boo the hell out of him until he improves his game and mentality, and earns my respect.

I so wish just a tiny part of the hearts of Sixer greats like Barkley and Iverson and Erving could be installed in Simmons' chest. As I see it, Simmons has three things to do -1 Make Foul Shots 2 Improve Jump Shooting 3 Show some heart. IMHO, the fans are dying to love him if he would just show us some heart!

Doc received plenty of criticism for the way he coached that series including his lineup changes and keeping Ben in during crunch time in the fourth. I think the major difference is Doc is not a player and he expressed emotions after the series. I think if Ben said, 'I need to play better,' or something showing accountability the heat wouldn't have been as bad.
