I still remember when all the media clowns were calling Simmons "the next LeBron James". But the thing that REALLY blew my mind was that not only were they saying that before he entered the NBA, they CONTINUED TO SAY IT for YEARS after Simmons entered the league. His numbers were NEVER EVEN CLOSE to LeBron's...and neither were his abilities...yet the media kept pushing this insane narrative the Simmons was "just like LeBron James". I've never really followed the NBA SUPER closely, but I definitely recall watching Simmons even prior to him being drafted into the NBA and CLEARLY seeing that he NEVER had that drive to become one of the all-time great NBA players. And this was long before he refused to learn how to shoot the basketball. He's EASILY one of the most overrated players to enter the NBA in the last 20 years.

The full extent of Ben's value really got exposed to everyone in the playoffs vs the Hawks, but of course the Sixers knew just how bad he is years before. Doc received plenty of criticism for the way he coached that series including his lineup changes and keeping Ben in during crunch time in the fourth. I think the major difference is Doc is not a player and he expressed emotions after the series. I think if Ben said, 'I need to play better,' or something showing accountability the heat wouldn't have been as bad.
