I have to admit that normally I'm very critical of these type of Gospel performances...BUT I actually loved this. I really like the song and I love the energy behind it. As far as the theatrics...well it ain't Sunday Morning for sure, but I still thought it was great. Considering a lot of blues and jazz was influenced by the gospel sound...I can only imagine that maybe somebody's church in the 30's or 40's was carrying on similar to this. Maybe one of those churches in Harlem, NY. I couldn't pull this off, but I could still teach it to my choir and rock it!!

There's a time and place for all things.this was not done in a church building. I don't think he is trying to make a mockery of God either. I believe he was going out into the world to tell of the goodness of Jesus. Yes it is a different way of reaching out. The Bible says David danced for Jesus. Do we know how he danced. This is a great song. Not everyone has the same worship style. I am actually kind of appalled that other brothers and sisters would condemn the style of worship of other Christians. I come from a conservative Baptist background and we sing hymns using only a piano so as you can imagine, it doesn't get too electrifying. But I once took a trip down to Puerto Rico and went to a Baptist church there and they praised with a güiro, tambourines, guitars, and many other instruments. It was definitely a new experience, as they clapped and swayed to the rhythm of praises. I was full of joy knowing that they were praising from their heart and were fully conscious of the lyrics they sang. Instead of telling them about MY preferences and MY style of worship I learned that it’s a complete waste of time for me to enforce MY OWN preferences on other groups of people who come from different roots and backgrounds. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
