The Resident brought me here. As a mother of an 8 month old baby boy and an aspiring labor and delivery nurse, graduating from nursing school in a couple months, I will never forget about your wife Kira. What happened to her was a never event that should have NEVER HAPPENED and it hits hard, she’s such a beautiful soul and didn’t deserve that. No women do, regardless of race or socioeconomic status. I cried watching the Resident and cried even more watching your speech. May the Lord continue to strengthen you, your family and your two beautiful sons.

Also there's a movement going on about women not having babies and people mocking them well maybe you may want to get them seeing this and now having to reconsider their thoughts now among who knows what other hazards in this world.

You're right on the mark and can also tell those people we're not living in times that justify this like say the Middle Ages or any other time in the past too and also not to use religion as an excuse either. Which why I mentioned this well look up the KZbin video of Weird History titled What Giving Birth Was Like For Royal Mothers and well just look into it and be glad you weren't living then as the video tells.

Also just more recently there's a childfree or childless movement going around along with the aftermath of banning abortion and the availability of abortion pills in this country among people who are against those. Well may want to tell them about this as well along with How To Survive videos focusing on this since childbirth isn't painless and also fatal.

So heartbreaking. Im thankful to be here with my baby. I was I desperate need of medical attention while in labor at the hospital 42 weeks. I was pushed off many times for over 5 hours. As if I had no clue what I was talking about like it was something new. I delivered 2 times before this was home with my babies a day after. So greatful that it was a shift change and the doc came in to check in and knew right away it was time to get my baby girl out and focus on me. 2 nurse's and the doctor who acted like I wasn't worthy of their time while on the clock no longer have that privilege of the job that they denied me of. I'm beyond thankful that , that doctor stood up for what was right an to tell the truth on my behalf. Because of their actions I can't have anymore kids. I love your heart.

As a physician, I know what it’s like to order a stat CT and feeling so frustrated that the wait goes on and on. There are many reasons, but some of it is staff shortage, a problem that became markedly worse with Covid. My heart goes out to this father and his sons.
@MedicalAutonomyProject
@MedicalAutonomyProject Жыл бұрын
She didn't need a stat CT scan. She was dramatically hemodynamically unstable. She needed to be brought back to the OR. The stat CT scan was finding an excuse to not trigger a sentinel event (bringing a patient back to the OR). Her OB should be charged with criminally negligent homicide. What you just typed is exactly the type of mental gymnastics doctors employ that kills patients.
@TheVertigoalley
@TheVertigoalley Жыл бұрын
@@MedicalAutonomyProject I agree with you! While CT could have been helpful, she needed the surgery much more than she needed imaging. And it is easy to deflect blame when something goes wrong. At many teaching hospitals, “Mortality and morbidity” conferences are regularly scheduled to review what went wrong and what steps should have been taken. I’m not saying the OB was NOT negligent, and quite possibly, other physicians could have intervened but didn’t.

This happened to me the same year sweet Kira died. I was in significant pain post csection and was told “I have been doing this for 40 years, your pain is normal” meanwhile I knew it was not normal, it was my third... I was told I was taking too many pain meds and was discharged 2 days early while on the pain scale of 7. I can’t give more information as to what happened after, but thankfully I am alive. My heart goes out to Kira and her family. I can’t believe this is so common.

This episode got me on the couch hollering and crying. Just remember a couple years ago going through the infertility clinic at 31 trying to have a baby and I was always arguing with my husband and telling him I was scared and that I'm fine without having children now I'm 35 years old and childless. I remember all the hidden fees and how I did 4 rounds of the IUI and then they finally told us we needed the IVF. I felt heart broken. God is watching over you and your family. Your wife was so beautiful I may not know you but this will rest on me forever. Her spirit and her memories will be with you. Them night you may get up and pace just get on your need and being to thanking God,

Yeah clinics lie to you. While I managed to have children on my own, my infertility doctor did not tell me how bad the results of my blood test were, did not refer to me a fertility dietician nutrionist to fix the vitamin deficiencies etc, Staight away gave me clomid without any of the facts of the high failure rate in an unhealthy woman with pcos. I only paid for one failed cycle before quickly realising some bulshit was going on.

I work in a hospital I work in the Float Pool Department meaning I go on every single floor and I consistently say for maternity floors anyone who gets a C-Section should be hooked up to a monitor 24/7 and checked on every 1-2 hours which a lot of hospitals do not do I believe it would save alot of lives ! And if she had a stat CT I would of rolled her down by myself I never wait on a transport person !

Charles, never give up. I am sharing your video with my nursing leadership/collaboration class. Nursing advocacy is being lost as managerialism infects the caring model. Healthcare disparities, business model over caring, etc.. must stop. I am so disappointed that you experienced a loss of nursing expertise and medical expertise that usually would recognize signs and symptoms, or expertise that listens to a family member. This is the side of your story that screams to a culture to stop the train. Kira deserved better, your family did too. You are in the process of redeeming this for others who have no voice. Oh Charles, I wish I could hold your soul, but I know Jesus can. Yes, fight as hard as you can.

But to top it all off we lost her father, my darling brother also due to malpractice again in a hospital on the part of the doctors that was entrusted with his care. When your family members go to these hospitals you must be hands on when it comes to their care. " Lightning striked: Twice in our family" You must have someone that you trust 24/7 bedside with your loved ones. Again my heart goes out to you and your family for the loss of your darling wife, and mother of your two beautiful boys. May God be with you and your family.

I'm so Happy to see someone stand up for the Rights of his Wife not only for hers but for all Mothers to be.This shouldn't had ever happened to her.She had the Right to be here with her Kids and Family and now they have to live life without her cause People didn't care enough to pay attention!!!When someone is telling you something is wrong.Just because you are a Doctor Doesn't mean you know it all.I hope The Doctors and Nurses live with this for the Rest of their lives cause they failed to do the one thing they Promisedto do TAKE CARE OF OUR PATIENTS THESE ARE PEOPLE LOVE ONE.RIP BEAUTIFUL 🙏🙌😭😭😭

I wonder how the staff at that hospital felt after she died. I wonder how the person that said she wasn’t a priority felt. How can you just neglect a person to the point of death?
@TheRealKCKay

They probably didn’t feel anything. This happens to black women all the time during pregnancy and more. They almost let my mom die of pneumonia in the hospital during Covid when I couldn’t visit her. They see death daily and they prioritize who they choose. It’s disgusting.

@@TheRealKCKay Indeed. Most medical staff are burn outs and contrary to popular belief the people in those jobs are not caring folks. A lot of narcs and sociopaths are in those professions. Gosh I saw a statistic something like a good chunk of doctors had personality disorders.

I'm sure that the medical personnel involved in her murder are very proud of themselves. They went out they had dinner and drinks and partied and high-fived each other.

My deepest condolences to you Charles and your boys…. In 2006, I had my 3rd and last baby and was hemorrhaging shortly after. I knew something was off and we called for the nurse. Lucky for me, they stopped it in time or I would had bleed to death unnoticed. We got to do something about this and bring our mothers home with baby…. Thank you for advocating this!!! Many mothers lives will be saved….

What a beautiful woman and I applaud and solute this man for loving his wife beyond death do them part…. I lost my life during pregnancy and the Lord brought me back I’m forever grateful and felt that my doctors tried to kill me on table by not caring because of the color of my skin. It’s sad but it’s true there is a racial injustice when bringing life into this world and I will forever pray for all mothers because it’s a battle. Praying for this man and his children’s journey as he continues to fight the much needed battle ❤ for Kira

This happens to way to many women. Black women especially. Last year i thought i was pregnant and went to the emergency dept where i was told i was not pregnant. 2 months later, i was bleeding heavy, passing blood clots the size of baseballs. I went back to the ED where they did an ultrasound and said that i was pregnant and the fetus was underdeveloped and didn't have a heartbeat. They said they would refer me to an obgyn for further information, testing and a physical exam. I went to the obgyn and he didn't go over what was going to be happening and had me lay on the exam table. I thought i was having an exam until he started scraping my uterus out. I left and i was very upset but i thought that was what was supposed to happen. A few days later i was bleeding even more ehevaier than previously. At this point this has been 1 month straight if bleeding. The obgyn office ordered blood work, so i got it done and the next day they called me and said i needed to go back to the ED immediately because i was still pregnant basedon my hcg levels rising and my blood was very low. I went back to the ED and the doctors told me that i didn't have any information in the system in why i should be sent there and they sent me home. I was pale and always put of breath, could hardly even make it up my stairs. My husband took me to a larger hospital about an hour away where we sat in the waiting room for 4.5 hours until i started bleeding so heavy my jeans were soaked down to my knees in blood. And they still told me i had to wait my turn. My husband and i left as i was starting to panic and we drove almost 100mph down the highway to Sinai hospital in Baltimore where they immediately drew blood and had me getting 2 bags of blood for a mass transfusion and on my way up-to the operating room. All in less than 15 minutes. The doctors there saved my life. But what was supposed to be a 20 minute surgery at 11pm ended up with me not waking up until 5 am and they never explained to us why that was. All in all i had been between 2hospitals and an office where they were literally watching me die. I remember telling my husband that i thought i was dying. And i don't mean just saying it, i truly felt that i was slipping away and all my husband could do was watch and pray. This maternal mortality in black women needs to stop. Black women are undervalued and pushed aside when 60% of the causes of death could've been prevented it a doctor just cared and treated their patients equally without any discrimination.

Am sorry about what happened to your wife. I am feeling your pain right now because I was exactly in your shoes 1yr ago, 21st July, 2021 when my daughter Dr. Cynthia Anunwah-Orakpu 32yrs was left to die bleeding in brain 14days after she delivered her first baby, a boy. Her postpartum 8days after delivery was came good. On 15th day she went Yuma Regional Medical Center with complain of common headaches. After finding out she had stroke, it took the hospital 4hrs before she was given critical medical attention, by then her brain was flooded with blood and was declared brain dead. Just like your wife she was a very healthy young woman. I am heart broken, crying as I respond to this video. Am glad you are bringing this issue to light. Please, am willing and ready to join this fight.

(sorry for my english, I'm french) I just watched the episode of The Resident based on Kiera 's story... It broke my heart (I'm mother of 2 baby boy home birth. I cried several time, for Charles' pain, for their sons and more for the baby-boy that will never feel her/ smell her/ listen to her voice/ sleep in her arms/ be protected by her immunotary speaking thanks to breastfeeding (poor he was not helped at the first time by c-section). I think that until care system doesn't get better and just for family health we should consider and promote "conscious birth" (confidence on mommies body "yes you can give birth by our own if you listen to your body"/ better food habits based on paleo diet (it will help you have energy for the greater marathon of your life!)/ key of no stress is "known environment" because it's better for moms dads and babies. Let's come back doing it at home with midwife that follow us during the process....Let the emergencies or extraordinaries pregnancy (more than one babies and moms over 40yeaars-old) ends at the hospital. I hope people be more conscious about this case to be aware that there is an heathy alternative that was use from night of time and we decide to abandon for any reason.... for sure it was not for mommy and babies health (but control of women body, easiest-direct human medicalization $$$) warm hugs for the families.
