Come on guys, there are a million Tesla documentaries on youtube. There are entire societies operating under the name Tesla and even a popular electric car company named after Tesla. This is the only documentary for Stienmetz and its 14 min long. Tesla discovered alternating current but without Stienmetz we would not have had its wide spread use.

Haha, fuck that Edison propaganda. Talk about trapped in the past, trying to discredit a dead man. Which is impossible by the way, because that dead man is Tesla. You idiot -_-

Why is everybody saying "where is Tesla??" this is a film about Steinmetz. There are plenty of films about Tesla too. In those films, does everyone scream " where is Steinmetz??"

It is but there are many names appearing only one is "forgotten" operating in the same field ... Nicola Tesla, but it's not strange if U consider that it's GE material and GE engineer lol And I would scream "where is Steinmetz" if I ever before heard about that man ... now when I heard about him I will look into his work and legacy for sure.

Steinmetz was a great man. But they just cropped Tesla out of that picture. The art of re-writing history never really goes away.

With the many players intertwined in time, Is there ever enough time to give a full account of history? The omission of Tesla is like the cousin not invited to your wedding the ceremony proceeded with his absents. Not every player has a chance to set foot on the field when the whistle blows.

well - this is definitely unabashed propaganda of the day to omit Tesla completely - especially around the Niagara falls electrical work. But taking nothing away from the man himself - he was truly a genius - Tesla invented AC - Steinmetz engineered it! They are both giants .

Tesla was one of many who developed AC power. He was a self promoter and his followers have some of the character of a cult. There is no propaganda here. It is a short documentary about Steinmetz, who was one of the most important figures in the development of electric power.

You are right . One should always try to remain free of prejudice and be aware of one's assumptions - difficult , as all perception is subjective and it is human nature to have beliefs , heroes and villains.

I knew a family who claimed to be related to Steinmetz. They did not have hunchbacks, but their physique somewhat resembled a duck's in the rear, but hey were healthy and strong. Later at GE another genius applied advanced math to electrical behavior: Gabriel Kron.

i am told steinmetz himself chose not to have children so as no to pass on his deformity to his children..steinmetz got the physical deformity from his father who got it also from his father...it is possible the people you are talking about are related from the grandfather's siblings who branch out at that level in the family tree

Another genius was Gabriel Kron. He applied tensor theory to analysis of high voltage transmission on "the grid." His literary style is awesome and all the more so since he emigrated to the US for education. Some of his books are available online.

Quite enjoyable - in context. I wonder what starry eyed auteur dreamed of being the next Orson Welles or Hitchcock only to find themselves in the Audio-Visual Communication division of G.E. 😏 Still, in context, well done and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing this.

hi, where can I find the quote where steinmetz is saying " I am very satisfied to have came here, where a reasonable man can live reasonably and succeed." I am trying to understand what it is saying after "No Body interferes with your freedom and one has .... " I cant here this part clearly.

But it was Westinghouse and Tesla that brought AC to the world
@EarlLedden

This was a GE/Edison production. The Statue at Niagra Falls is of Tesla who truly came up with AC. Both were geniuses, but credulity suffers when Tesla is not even mentioned.
