It is on my bucket list to visit Charles Town. My husband's 7th great grandfather Dr. John McCormick bought the land at 3735 Summit Point Rd and built his home in 1742. During the American Revolution soldiers drank water from their spring house, they were fed and supplied with horses raised on the farm. One of the sons had a tavern and inn at the house. During the Civil War both the Union and Confederate soldiers stand from the McCormick spring house. The house is still good condition. I can't find out if it is a bed and breakfast or a inn now. The McCormick sons surveyed with George Washington and they faught in the American Revolution.

The White House Farm is what you are speaking of. I believe it is a private residence and the owners may hold occasional events (not 100% on that). Look up White House Farm, Jefferson County WV and you will get a lot of info.

@@JasonIsOverHere yes, I know it is called The Whitehouse Farm. I exchanged emails with a previous owner. They used to host events there. I am a genealogist/family historian. My husband is a descendant of the McCormick family. I errored in saying John was 7th great grandfather to my husband.. He is his 5th great grandfather. 5th GGF,. Dr John McCormick, 4th GGF., William (1738-1818), 3rd GGF. William McCormick (1780-1860), 2nd GGF. Civil War Captain Isaac William McCormick (1817-1891), GGM Helen McCormick. I have been in contact with a few other descendants that also research this line and we exchanged information. I would love to go there one day because I know local archives have a lot more information that the records available digitally.

I came across this and had to watch. I didn't realize it's from 2017. I performed at Abolitionists Ale in 2018 or 2019 but was going to Alexandria, VA right after so I didn't know anything about the town or how it came to be. Thanks for that...Peace
