I think those who got hit by the Sentinel blast rays may have survived including Magneto, Banshee, and probably Madelyne. But Gambit was the only one who got actually got impaled and caught in the Sentinel explosion and only his dead body was found.

The world being engulfed might be a reference to when Gambit had a nightmare where he accidentally destroyed the world with his powers. Gambit had Mr Sinister perform surgery on his brain in order to nerf his powers. That's why he went from being an Omega level mutant to an Alpha level

It is possible that Gambit made a pact with Ghostrider in case he dies? Perhaps Gambit was the only one to survive staring at Ghostrider eyes and that explains Gambit’s black eyes. So now that Gambit is dead, he might return as a new Ghostrider? ( Since Xavier vision saw a Skeleton Gambit )

I believe his subconscious brings up a deep dive into the Cosmos after he says "we are all children of the atom. " The astral plain probably works in the same way as the dream realm, so when he said that out loud, he looked at the globe which is of Earth and that sent his telepathy out towards Earth's direction. Gambit being special to him, Sends the news of Genosha with him like a ghost. And knowing his own telepathy he analyzes his own visions like any good psychologist would.
