FYI Shamisen. 3 most common tunings are: CGc, CFc & CFA# with much regional variation but as long as top is an octave above bottom or there about its probably cool. I tried these on my 3 string & played it with a spatula but its fretted so it didn't sound great - well that's my excuse.
