Hi Charles, today (and yesterday)y I installed the red LED strip lights on my camper. I wish I could thank you in person, I have been putting this off because I thought it would be too much. I followed your instructions, your very clear instructions, step-by-step and today I have working LED strip lights making my lights on the camper… so much more visible and so much safer. Thank you thank you thank you!

You are quite welcome. You will be seen so much better with these lights. If a light does not work down the road, it is almost always will be a ground that has come lose.

It took a bit of time, but I am pleased with it and I'm glad you liked. Use heat shrink for everything!

I tried to not leave anything. I really got to liking the heat shrink and I am going back to my camper and adding them to the splices. Taping is ok, but adding heat shrink is great insurance. Thanks for watching.

Great detailed video Charles! I bought a 2020 rangerunner a couple of weeks ago. Better rear lighting is on my list of projects to complete! Thanks!

Charles your videos are fantastic. Looking forward to putting your tips into practice. How many of these campers do you own?

Only one - we had a 4x8 Navigator for almost four years and now the new 2020 fiberglass composite 6x8 RangeRunner.

Charles gr8 video. But why didn’t you run the wires threw to the inside corners. Then down threw the floor to the light? Water proof the holes with the silicone. Therefore fewer wires exposed to the weather....... Though nice jobs..... Oh BTW a trick, is to use the heat gun to heat the glue strip on the conduit. It will hold better...... Jeff

We did waterproof every single hole. Hole through the floor? Not interested in doing that at all. I just did not want wires running inside but some can do that is they wish They are normal trailer wire or strobe wire - meant to easily survive the weather. Heat the conduit - maybe - but it has held perfectly for over 3 years on my first Runaway. So it holds better already. Lots of ways to skin a cat aren't there?

Can you do these lights on the new 4x8 with a back door...is there enough space for it?

Great video! My RangeRunner is ordered and I will be attempting something like this when it arrives. Any idea if that CordMate is rated for outdoor use? The pop-up tent trailer I had before ordering my RangeRunner was crushed by the intense AZ sun. I’ve learned my lesson about sun damage and now have plans to protect my new RangeRunner with a custom Sunbrella cover made by a local tent/awning shop. That CordMate stuff might be okay under the cover, but it will still be exposed to the sun when I’m using the RangeRunner.

I cannot answer with any real authority, but . . . . the same material has been on my original Runaway since 2016, BUT NOT in a desert environment. It is indoor stuff, but personally I would not worry about it. It is cheap and couple easily be peeled off (with some resistance, but doable) and replaced. Perhaps there is a metal alternative out there, but I cannot say. Good luck with it! And thanks for watching!

I don't want to be one of those Internet experts but...3M mounting tape solves a lot of vibration issues on those strip lights. If you screw them in the fatigue/failure point is the tabs on the ends. Second, that T joint, wrapped with electrical tape needs being done with either silicone electrical tape or better yet liquid electrical tape. Third, I'm amazed at how sloppy the factory wiring appears to be. Loom everything, get it up high and hopefully behind something protective. A lot goes on under your trailer frame while towing and losing rear lamps when out in the boondocks is not fun.

I do not mind an observation and suggestion. You should see what comments I hide sometimes from my videos. However . . . I am having NO vibration issues, so I do not need to do the 3M tip. The T joint is also doing just fine. About the wiring - I drove my original Runaway 4x8 for 1000's of miles everywhere and never an issue with problems with the wiring. It is typical trailer wiring and does just fine. But thanks for the suggestions anyway! Be safe.
