So this video is another one I needed! I bought that exact screen for my Runaway ( being built as I write this!) I ordered some heavy duty magnetic tape on a roll, which I was going to use where you are using the Velcro. I’ve used a lot of Velcro for things in my order RV, and it just isn’t always reliable for me. We’ll see…anyway this is very helpful for the measurement and where to cut, so THANKS! Sorry about your sewing machine though… hope you got it fixed!

Thank you for sharing how you were able to fit the screen door to your camper. I have a teardrop camper with doors on each side and wanted to do the same thing to gain that cross breeze. I just was not sure how to cut and fit it to the doors so thank you again!

Genius! I couldn't help but thinking one could sacrifice a tent zipper window / door screen for that too. You should make a bunch of custom Runaway gear and eBay the heck out of it.

I did this project before. My runaway is 2022 and comes with a hard plastic screen door but it gets in the way and keeps the door from locking properly at times so I ripped it off and replaced it with this type of mesh magnet netting system. I'm much happier with this alternative version. They should install from factory instead. I bet it would be cheaper to!
@Robinson-Homestead3 ай бұрын
If ours gets ripped we just replace it, pretty simple.
@AlFonso-p6p3 ай бұрын
@@Robinson-Homestead Simplicity and practicality are always the best way to go. I love it when you can just fix it yourself instead of buying an expensive replacement. Smart man!

Kevin, your Runaway camper is awesome! I have a 2017 RAV4, the towing capacity is only max 1500 lbs. I've been following your runaway camper projects. I wonder if my RAV4 would be able to pull the Runaway.
@Robinson-Homestead7 жыл бұрын
if you keep the camper and gear around 1,000 lbs. you should be fine.the camper is 680 lbs. so you have around 320 lbs. for other stuff. thanks rav rv
@beamusedrev7 жыл бұрын
Hi Rav.... I have a Kia Soul. Pulls the Runaway just fine! I wouldn't want to tackle the Rockies, but goes along with no problem. I travel every year from FL to New England. Never had an issue.
@n8rlvr876 Жыл бұрын
Hey, I just purchased a Runaway, and researched thoroughly first to make sure I could tow it with my Mitsubishi Outlander; which has the same towing capacity as the RAV4... 1500 lbs. The dry weight on the Range Runner is 700 lbs give or take roughly, so you’d be fine towing it with ur car! The Cool Camp( their smaller model) comes in at 595 lbs. If you wanted to go even lighter.

Great idea! I wish you would have tested it on camera so we can see how it worked for you. If you can comment back in how it work for you that'll be great thank you

Hi Kevin, Harry from Ocala.i liked your ideal but the magnets were a problem to me. What I did was frame the door with wood 2x1/2 or close. It looks like a screen window . It still is being worked on. The curve at the top was my biggest issue. It just pops in or out. I have it A little too snug but I can have both or one door open now. I have limited tools and work area. I'm sure you would have done much better. Project cost $15-20. Ok,happy camping.

Check Hatch61 light. It's a solar security motion detector light and works great. Caravan Caro,th is a retired police and I saw her use the light first. No wire or electricity and I would have one on/by each window for security.
@Robinson-Homestead6 жыл бұрын
That would work.

Nice mod. Would it need cut if put on a full size RV.
@cathybronson13124 жыл бұрын
Put the hoop side of velcro on wall. Makes it easier to fold up screen if you take it down. Velcro will not stick to screen. Learn from experience.

Want you just put a zipper there when you're inside you zip it down when you go out you separate up simple
@Robinson-Homestead2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the idea
@pamthompson70593 жыл бұрын
You need to gather the top to give more material to give so you can enter, otherwise it's to tight.
@Robinson-Homestead3 жыл бұрын
i agree we did make it too tight but we don't have that camper anymore .
@pamthompson70593 жыл бұрын
This was from experience that I did the same thing. At a Runaway rally, someone showed me how they gathered the top for more flexibility and it worked easier. Just a FYI.
@kpswis97 жыл бұрын
I don't have anything bad to say about them we had one at a school that had a patio door and had it on there for two years the kids went in every day in and out in and out and then finally they got tired of Fixing the magnets and they took it down and put the regular screen door on but it should work on your camper very well
