Thanks for sharing this gorgeous Impala. My Dad bought a ‘62 Impala in gold. It was my job, when I was home during the summer from college, to wash and wax the beauty, including polishing the bright work with chrome polish. Maybe I learned my love of cars making that “ingot of gold” shine and gleam. I learned to drive using that car. I never fully appreciated how the designers built in so much eye candy… it was “just” transportation (but never, never abused). You brought back 61 yrs worth of memories. Many thanks, again.

My dad had a '63 Impala Ermine white red interior. One summer day, my mom took her four kids to pick up my dad from work. In her haste to get us all out, etc., she left the keys in the ignition. When we returned to the car, it was gone! We walked back towards my dad and we saw his car stopped at a light. He ran after it but the light turned green and the guy turned the corner. He did it so fast he lost control and ran into a house! He was 14 years old! My dad got it back but he didn't want it. So he traded it for a 1966 Buick WIldcat.

Charles, you brought back memories of my great aunt and uncle's 1962 Bel-Air in surf green. It was also a survivor and survived them. An anachronism even 40 years ago when we bought it from the estate and I got to drive it and have my own joyride. It had a 283 and PowerGlide and a rear antenna. I can hear that PowerGlide whirr on this car too, when you put it in park. Like a cat purring.
@new2000car2 жыл бұрын
That whirring powerglide was a strangely unflattering sound to me. The car (any gm powerglide back then) a nice sound, good exhaust sound, maybe some valve tapping, when it is pulling into the driveway. Then the driver puts it in park and it’s all over, like a macho guy with a little girl’s voice. I never understood how that high pitched whirring was allowed (of course I was 4 or 5 at the time)
@jonathan_nc2 жыл бұрын
@@new2000car My Aunt Betty's 1953 Chevy 210 made that same whirring sound and so did my friend's 1966 Impala, so I was always aware of it. It was just the "Chevrolet sound" to me. I was also a car nut as a kid and it's amazing what kids pick up on. Cars back then were so unique and their starters had different sounds.
@new2000car2 жыл бұрын
@@jonathan_nc wow it makes sense that your aunt’s 53 210 made the same sound. I remember Chrysler cars made a similar whirring sound when slowing down for a light. As the car slowed to a stop, the transmission shifted itself down to first gear. The whir lasted for 2 or 3 seconds. Then it stopped. It never did this when shifting to park. I wonder why the difference?

I just inherited a blue 62 with blue interior from my grandfather. Completely original until I got ahold of it. The wiring almost caught fire so I had to change the generator to an altenator. 3 on the tree just like yours. I love it! It's showing its age but with a gental bath and some spray on wax the paint looks amazing. The inside is a bit nasty looking. Too much for me to handle so I'm going to get it cleaned.

luv this...good memories. my great aunt and uncle bought a new '62 Impala Sport Sedan - 4 door hardtop - with every option except air, turquoise with white top and turquoise interior. had twin radio antennae on the rear, power everything, and a 327 4 barrel. one day my sister and i amused ourselves - we were around 5 or 6 years - by playing with the power windows and seat all afternoon...we'd never seen anything like that before. ran the battery down and then everyone was wondering why this nice car wouldn't start...my sister and I were like 'I don't know!"

A couple of flags. The dull lower paint sure looks like a repaint. Has a non stock exhaust. Stance is off especially in front. Either badly sagged springs or it’s been lowered a bit. Engine paint looks red instead of Chevy orange. 42,000 miles? I would want to see a paper trail to verify. STILL, a very, VERY nice example of a 62 Impala! Very desirable!

Hi Charles I love the joyride that you do on such beautiful days with such beautiful cars but I was going to tell you I was looking at this Impala 62 light green you're showing and I think the guy needs to put some new coil springs in the front she's sitting kind of low? And they will sag after all them years to even though it has low miles it's been sitting on those springs for all those years so it's just a suggestion but if you look at it you'll see what I mean she seemed a little low on the front thank you

BEAUTIFUL car, Charles! This Impala reminds me of two different cars: 1) My oldest brother's '62 white two door hardtop Impala that he bought in 1968 (for $500) and...2) my friend's dad's mint '63 two door hardtop Impala that I admired back when I was a teenager. Both were very original and in excellent condition. There's only one thing wrong with these old Chevy's of the early 1960's: they're too expensive in today's vintage market (i.e., I can't afford one :( ) Other than that, they're wonderful.
