Big fan of early Jazz...so glad the Video at least showed a few pics of the True Originators of this Iconic American Composition (James P. Johnson) and Dance (from the Revue Runnin' Wild, 1923). Without it, we'd probably be still doing the Minuet.

Because 1925 was the year the Electronic Recording Process was introduced. Prior to that it was Acoustic recordings.

@@eselmartillo118 no--this alternate "non scat" take was never issued in the 1920s. It was a alternate {unissued) take that was in the Victor vaults for years and was issued on a CD for the 1st time !

The King could not miss this one !!!!of course the sound output of this particular arraingment is not up to the standards of other tunes that this band played during the mid twenties,but nevertheless it's rhythmic and fun... thanks for sharing

Quindi questa incisione del Charleston di Paul Whiteman senza scat è stata rilasciata da la voce del padrone in Italia? Ho sempre pensato che l’unica versione stampata su 78 giri fosse quella americana della Victor con appunto, lo scat eseguito da Whiteman stesso. Complimenti per la restaurazione, sembra di stare davanti all’orchestra!

No, non fu mai pubblicata. Il master è stato in archivio per più di 70 anni e fu scoperto da Vince Giordano nei primi anni 2000.
