In the early days, actors would wear lipstick so that their mouths would be visible on the screen. As the film quality improved, this no longer was necessary. It is interesting that Charley Bowers continued to wear lipstick into the sound era.

I don't think it is better than the CGI they are both good in their way but Hollywood is not creative anymore so they just use basic or generic ideas people talk more about the actors than the movie and it's just not evolving or much interesting

The picture quality is amazing, and there’s more footage here than in any other upload. Though it still seems like there’s something missing, as the cut from the bird eating the wheel to the man asking if she lays eggs seems a bit jarring.

No more so than a lot of transitions in films of that time. It does run a bit short for a two-reeler, though, if the standard length of 18-20 minutes had been established by the time this came out.

I can confirm there's nothing missing. I had a friend in Michigan in the 1970s who had an ACTUAL ORIGINAL FILM of this, and he transferred it to the fledgling new VHS format for me at the time. (Thankfully he had VHS rather than Betamax, which I would have soon never been able to play again. He also had an original film of FREAKS.) It's an abrupt transition, but the copy I saw (and I probably still have the dub somewhere) had nothing between the wheel and the question. Likewise, the original film didn't have a parting word from Lowell Thomas either.

Mr. Romboidal...which I think should be Rhomboidal, by the way, you are wrong. dinosaurs appeared before some evolved into Pterosaurs. Therefore, logically, all birds are dinosaurs, not the other way around. But that’s like saying, “All frogs are fish”, simply because the ancestors of frogs that crawled out of the water onto dry land were “fish”. Frogs are amphibians, not fish. Birds are avians and not dinosaurs, which are reptiles. The paths of mutation and natural selection were long and diverse, so straight lines from one type of life form to another are necessarily oversimplifications.

The thing I've wondered about, is this: Did science know yet, in 1930, that birds can be traced back to dinosaurs? If that wasn't knowledge yet, it's VERY interesting that it would show up in this film. When did science realize the link existed?
