Yeah, I love Jonathan as well, and he's the best for me cos he was playing the role when I saw it in London. I like the other actors who have played him on stage, too - Douglas Hodge and Alex Jennings - but Jonathan's Wonka seemed to have this crazy energy about him, and I loved the way he did not give a crap about what happened to those other kids once they got themselves into trouble after he repeatedly gave them warnings.

I think it was more that people complained that "Double Bubble Dutchess" was hard to understand. The slight controversy on the Beauregardes' (Violet specifically) came from the show originally wanting only non-white actresses for the role and requiring that she could rap.
