Willy Wonka was one of those magical movies that really affected me as a kid (and I think works just as well for adults). The director did a fabulous job, the child actors were great, but without Gene Wilder I don't think it would have had the same impact. You'll be sorely missed, Gene. R.I.P.

It was a FANTASTIC film. And one that EVERY SINGLE CHILD alive on this earth must see at least once...!!! Thank you to the cast and especially Gene for giving me such great memories. I know Johnny Depp tried with Charlie and The Chocolate Factory but it just wasn't the same. Nothing could ever replace or duplicate this movie it's that much of a classic.

I agree. I'm not really a fan of Tim Burton movies, nor most Hollywood remakes. I didn't expect to like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", but I saw a few pre-release ads, read some reviews, and got curious. I went to it with an open mind with no expectations. I purposely tried not to make comparisons to the original film. They were wise in giving it the same title as the book, and going in that direction with the portrayal of the characters, and the scenes. Well, I saw it in the theater when it first came out, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked it!
