Great podcast. Charlie was a great guest. I like that even though he was the guest and could reasonably expect you to ask all the questions, he showed interest in you and wanted to learn more about your life. I definitely appreciate when both people do a fair share of talking / asking questions. Also, thanks for covering so many different topics. I clicked for the poker, but really enjoyed learning about Thrive, psychedelics, and self healing. Looking forward to your next one.

Charlie's idea for helping homeless is absolutely brilliant ! I hope one day we come to a status in the world were people with great ideas get to dictate how a country is run, enough of these slow politicans and other so called "experts" that never tries think outside the box or come up with a solution.

Loved this! I've always watched a lot of Charlies content and recently starting to watch a lot more of yours so loved to see this. I just wanted to touch on something you said towards the end about being anxious and having worries, self doubt etc. I disagree with that because it's not what I believe and obviously we all have different beliefs and personally I've started questioning and changing a lot of my beliefs. From what I've learnt though is that we'll always have emotional reactions, but it's about shortening the refractory time of our emotional reactions. Not dwelling on things and living in the past etc. Which is where meditation is key, to become more aware and conscious of how we think and feel and not unconsciously react to everything in our environment which we can't control. I agree when you say we should accept things and they won't seem as bad, because we're not analysing them right? simply just be, in the moment, connect to the energy of our future and the elevated emotions of joy, gratitude etc. Believe in our future more than our past, the past memories of pain, suffering, guilt, unworthiness. Rather than letting our subconscious mind control us and make us feel more separate from any desired future reality. There's one person who really opened my eyes to the benefits of meditation, broadened my awareness of how we see things and helped me change my energy; change my life and that is Dr Joe Dispenza! When you or anyone who reads this has some free time check out some of his content here on youtube honestly you wont regret it!! Big thanks for the content brother, thanks for yours and Charlies time, getting information out there.. massive respect for what you do, appreciate it!

You shouldn't eat meat every day (for the reason you just mentioned). If you want to add meat to your diet Fish would be your best option because of the omega-3 (yes even knowning the sea is not so clean anymore. it still has more benefits to eat fish in 2021 then not.)

Great content Ben! The basic problem and misconception with animal foods is that we actually want to eat what is genetically the most different to humans. That's why cannibals get sick. I got a request: Can you share your methods or tricks if you will to stay concentrated over a long period of time? The problem I have in Poker is that I'm doing good in the first 3-4 hours, making good decisions, intuition on point. But then lacks of concentration pop up where I either lose a ton of chips or suck out completely. Which factors are important for you - sleep, meditation, nootropics etc?
@lightonstillwaters6789 Жыл бұрын
Simple idea: quit when you feel tired, or take the dinner button, but go for a brisk walk for half hour, then spend the remaining time walking slowly back to the poker room, breathing slowly and deeply to calm your pulse rate, maybe close your eyes and relax for a few minutes. No need to play long sessions. Book some winning sessions to create momentum and a positive mindset. Quit session if tired, upset, etc.

Amazing podcast thanks a lot for all this wisdom :) ! I just don't understand this GTO vs non GTO debate. GTO means playing optimal vs a certain strategy. When you deviate from "GTO" because you play vs someone who is not playing an optimal strategy you are actually playing gto vs his style. Am I missing something here ?
@jeremychan24783 жыл бұрын
Never understood how both of you gets haters in the poker world, Charlie (Doug) and Ben(Dom). It's just different thinking in poker and don't think there is any positivity in bringing someone down. Like Charlie said, we have a long way to go from being 100% accurate in poker strategy.

In the case of Charlie it's all the bullshit conspiracy theories he posts on Twitter. He's also been talking about his charity efforts for some time, but hasn't yet got to charitable status (as noted in this interview). I don't know what the hold up is to be honest - it takes around 1 to 2 months to do so in the UK so something just seems off.

I think Charlie is underestimating the power of AI a bit and overestimating humans. How can you say that humans have a higher skill-ceiling than AI, if there is no human being capable of beating the best Poker AI? Same with Chess, GO and other complex games. And AI will only improve even more at a much faster rate than a single human being can. Also I do think that we are capable to calculate ICM implications for huge fields, it's just not practical because the differences are small and humans can't remember so many details anyways. Don't get me wrong, humans are awesome, we are the ones who created AI, but in isolated areas computers just perform better. Edit: Regarding the "elastic" confusion: I guess for Charlie the betsizing is "elastic" for the same calling range, that's why he calls it like that, while the calling range is "static" regardless of the sizing.

the physical and mental factors of not eating (a lot) of animal products is mind boggling. i just strongly reduced animal products (i am not vegan), and the difference for me is unbelievable. i have more energy, more consistence and better mental fortitude. digesting animal products costs us so much energy and in reality is, especially in big amounts, not healthy. even if someone wouldnt care about animals at all or think its all great, they should still try for themselves to reduce animal products, no need to completely stop immediately, and just see how it feels. i think for poker players it is just such a big hack. just look at the vegan percentages in competitive sports rise and rise.. everyone who competes should consider it!
