Yup, but damn there's so much more in this podcast that it's a must listen. So I hope people don't just read this comment without listening to the podcast because they would be missing on out a lot. That's 2 hours of high quality content and insight.

Ryan Harris no he is saying fold more than is “optimal” from solvers

I have played against him on WSOP.com and something isn't right because he plays as if he can see my cards. Every bluff, raise, or call that is good but was 3rd pair on a triple barrel. Value betting thinly and then overfolding rivers seems like two contrary pieces of advice. That would be great advice to get people to bet a lot of rivers with marginal hands and when he raises you on the river to fold. Seems like he could just print money that way. I don't trust him. Betting with marginal hands I don't think is ideal or profitable. Most of the time you are only going to be called by a hand that beats you and if they have nothing they will fold anyway. There's no value in betting. It's horrible advice done on purpose so that he can exploit you. I don't trust him.
@shanevaters16153 жыл бұрын
@@randomBBL you cant trust a world class poker player because he has good reads and is better?? Thin value is something ALL of the best recommend (and do often, if you watch poker). Thin value and folding rivers are not at all contradictory. You're not going to beat an Olivier Bousquet with the above analysis, you dont sound like you're doing the work to beat an Olivier Bousquet

Really powerful this episode, there is so much to be gained from this conversation. What i will bring to heart, as im on my first year off playing poker for a living, is the importance of balance with playing and keeping a life away from the table with exercise and eating better. This is prolly the first time i've ever heard such a deep and thoughtful conversation from 2 really experienced players and i thank you both for sharing this with us and helping our mental game improve !! Thank you Ben and Oliver ❤

I think the conversation around 35:00 is very interesting, to me it highlights how it was so very easy for many of the oldschool pros to fall behind the curve of the new understanding of poker. Many of the old pros, especially live MTT players, got by simply by their natural gamesense and experience as well as live reads, and when they didn't keep up with the new way of playing and studying poker, they all disappeared.

Watched the entire thing and at the end Olivier said it's a good thing to find a community around poker if you are serious about it. Awesome podcast. Learned a lot in the past 1 or 2 year about happiness, psychology of happiness, living the present moment etc. Books like Eckhart Tolle Power of Now or Flow by Csikszentmihalyi helped a lot. Still sometimes its very hard to find the right attitude. Here in the podcast even Olivier said that people never live in the moment, they do something to get somewhere. But then he said that you need new goals after you achieve something. This is also true. When you set a goal its very challenging to live just in the moment, do what you do for the love of the thing you. Its funny to think about it, but lets imagine you set a goal, then you forget about it, delete from you mind and just do what you do because you love it, in the present, experiencing flow. And this way you can perform without any psychological pressure. You need goals but sometimes by setting goals you deny things like flow to appear. What do you guys think about this? You cant be in present, living the moment when you regularly look at you goal, what is in the future. Maybe minimazing the time we spend with looking at our goal is the key.
