Hi, I played bass with Charlie on the Jamboree when he showed up with out a bass player. A legend, and I miss him and Billy.

Have always loved bluegrass music, Charlie Moore in particular. But sadly, i didn't realize that he died so young, and so long ago. What a shame! Alcohol and drugs have taken so many precious souls. Please be careful what you do people, and how much you do...RIP Charlie!

I'm assuming by the photos on this video that you maybe knew Charlie personally. Charlie would have been the one of biggest bluegrass stars of all time if he hadn't been taken from us at such a young age. One of the most recognizable voices in bluegrass music. I discovered Charlie's music about 12 years after he had died. It was 1991 & I was working at my hometown radio station doing the weekly bluegrass show. Since then, I have managed to aquire quite a number of his albums, both solo and some with Bill Napier. Finding these recordings like yours here on you tube has been such a great experience for me. Thank you for sharing these precious gems with us. Charlie is a bluegrass legend in my book!

Thanks a lot for your nice comments. Yes, I met Charlie at Smokey Greenes BG festival in 1974 and he wanted me to organise a European tour for him which I did in Nov 1976 and March 1979. I drove him from show to show and played lead guitar and most showdates in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany & Switserland and recorded 2 LP's with him, only one of which was issued on the Philips label "T for Texas". I think so too that he would be one of the biggest BG stars had he lived to see that. Such a pity, such a great singer and songwriter. Best wishes to y'all!

Thanks for your comments Nathan! Yes indeed, such a pity, like Carter Stanley, Keith Whitley, Hank Williams, Gram Parsons etc. Charlie Moore was a great singer and songwriter with his own recognisable style with everything he did. Here is his FB page: facebook.com/CharlieMooreBluegrass

Dennis, did Billy Constable play with Charlie? He might have been too young. We loved Billy here in Avery County, NC......like Charlie, he left us much too early. Lois certainly has a beautiful voice.

Hi Brenda! Thanks for your question! Billy did play with Charlie, even when he was young, but he didn't come with Charlie and Lois to their European tour unfortunately. Best wishes, Dennis

@@d35s2 Thanks so much for clarifying. Charlie and Billy were certainly two geniuses when it came to music. I think most of the Lois's family (Wisemans) must have been extremely talented also.

Dennis, A request: Do you happen to have a recording of Mountain Sweetheart? I think Moore recorded it in this era, and I've been wanting to hear the original of that song.
