This is the blues....a little sugar for us from one of the all-time great bluesmen, not just harp players. I thank God that Charlie did whatever he did to further his health and longevity. As you can easily see from this magnificent performance, the man just keeps rolling along, voice and playing getting better and better. So tasteful and sharp to employ that wonderful amped harp rather than the acoustic. He's been going strong since the mid-sixties.....keep tearing it up, Charlie! We love you.

Charlie has grown a lot in 50+ years that I've been listening to him. I'm a huge Butterfield fan and it always seemed that back in the 60's and 70's Musselwhite was trying to catch up to Butter, but I've since changed my mind as Charlie has been performing all this time. Charlie Musselwhite is great and has certainly paid his dues while never quitting to keep the blues alive and well.

What a lot of people don't understand about the blues is that they pick you right up, you laugh as soon as you hear the lyrics and you're ready to dance to the music. good blues that is.

I grew up listening to this man..my dad, uncles and friends would get together 3 or 4 night a week. Played a lot of blues! I listened and learned...I've been playing blues for almost 40 years. Grew up in Rolling Fork Ms, right off Highway 61...Muddy Waters's hometown. I even got to play a little with one of his still living nephews. We had a little half pint we sat on the floor between us, with the cap left off. The things we played that night? Oh Lawd'...this man is a legendary harp player and that tone is otherworldly!!!

Charlie's masterful tribute to Little Walter (1930-1968), a revolutionary in his own right, one of the first harmonica artists to compete with guitars by cupping the mic around his horn and plugging in, eventually pushing the amps beyond their intended limitations, and becoming, according to one bio, the 'first musician of any kind to purposefully use electronic distortion.'
