You've got fans (well at least one) in North Yorkshire too. Glad I bought Jan 2011 Acoustic mag. I'd never heard of this guy before.

I was at the incident that this song remembers. My whole family worked at the plant. Most of them ended up being arrested. It was a sad day in the history of America.

Because he is a God among men. And just a beautiful individual who can paint a vivid picture, normally of the downtrodden. But this shows the plight of his family and all those who worked at Hormel during the strike. I was so happy when he fulfilled this request. The songs from his own personal experience always ring so true, mainly because of the conviction behind it.

You provided another excellent example of a blanket statement when you said, "you work union you live better". I believe int the right to association and peoples right to form unions, however unions have a long history of violence in achieving their power. That power often doesn't serv the worker.

@thestrugglewithin Haha, saw him last night @ 1st Ave in Minneapolis and it was pretty much all Millennials. Then again, Minneapolis has a pretty big underground scene.

@Mrs0sanka0 nah i didn't use a tab i just picked it by ear. its basically a minor to C to G with various walks.

he threw his electric tuner in the trash, didn't give it away. he threw it in the trash. that's because he uses his ears. it's tuned just fine. :)

It's basically wherever Charlie wants to put the capo, studio version capo 2 play Am, Fmaj7 and G using alt thumb picking. I play it without all the pulloffs and hammer ons, but it's important to get the notes at the end of each verse which are quite simple if you've mastered some picking.

WoW read wikapedias description of the 85 strike at hormel, pretty full on it seems, considering it was one of the longest strikes recorded and had repercussions nationwide. Spam aye Well i never!!

You live in the states and have only just discovered him, goes to show Charlies been hidin in the woodwork waitin to be found.

Saying it's a fact doesn't make it so. My last job was non-union with better wages, better benefits, better working conditions and better hours.

What can ya say, unfortunately some of the best blues or any good song sometimes come from personal experiences and this sums that that up to a tee. Im wondering whether this song is related to dead cat on the line another great song but because i cant quite understand all the lyrics in both songs there seems to be a connection.
@leeroy7516 жыл бұрын
cant say i beleive a whole lot in some unions either.
@yngvaibucketrucci15 жыл бұрын
everyone says that and i agree but its not just now, its been that way as long as record companies have existed it just gets worse the better they get at manufacturing bullshit to get peoples money instead of releasing actual good music from real artists. because if they did that the power would be in the artists hands, and that just wouldnt be acceptable

could it just be the twang of the resonator that makes u think its out of tune? it doesn't sound that bad to me.
@creeloebelle15 жыл бұрын
A fact... you work union you live better.... do some research on wages and benefits... yeah, lots of politics happening but the bottom line is that if you work union, you do much better than non-union.... it is well documented.

The 16p nail detail is pure BS. All good union men know that 1 inch roofing nails is the tire sabotage weapon of choice.
