Back in the 70's. I remember this song. My Dad would sing it to my mom. He has a Great singing voice. He never had time He always worked 7 days a week. He own 4 Restaurants. When he had time off him and my mom would listen to old country songs. He would dance with me and mom. He has Parkingson Diease and his mind is going. So I play all the songs him and my mom listen to. We lost my mom in 2008 she and my Dad were married 50 years. I want never forget this song.

One of mom's favorites. She would open the windows on the nice days and turn the volume up just a little bit... She loved to sing along as she did housework or whatever. ✌

Rich released this song in April of 73. It was his second big hit. His formula was a crossover from country to easy listening pop. A long time county star, he made it big with this and The Most Beautiful Girl in the World. The way he brings it up a key in mid song is tasteful!

Like me, you had a refined taste for music as a preteen. When Beatles came in, and I was 13, I thought " What the heck is all this yelling and screaming about? " I had a polished sense of what I thought good music was like,such as country, classical, musicals ,and other music that many 30 to 40 year olds and older liked.

There is nothing like old country music. Growing up with this. We had an Am radio with the Big D dejay on 1600 am. My mother played that station all the time. I listened to it all day long while she went about cleaning, cooking and taking care of us. When i was five, I won a radio at my school. And my mother put it in the living room. It was Big Dino Day, all day long.! Such great memories. When I was five, I was taken to the rodeo in our town. I went to the bathroom. My mother stood outside. While I was in there, I ran into Loretta Lynn. She looked at me and said, how ya doing darlin? I was in total awe. She had on this big purple, sparkled, long gown. That is a memory I will never forget!

Amazing talent. Thank you for sharing. A rare fact concerning Charlie Rich. Elvis enjoyed his music and had gone to see him play wearing a disguise. He had his albums up until his death in August of 1977. At the tarmac, in the mid 1970s, Elvis and Charlie crossed paths. The wind was blowing both of their hair around and Charlie asked for his autograph. As soon as Elvis tried it blew away. Finally, Elvis said "this ain't working" and then leaned on his stretched Mercedes Benz limo and gave his autograph. When he was going to hand it to him he said "there is a condition" and Charlie said "what"? Elvis said "mine for yours". Charlie was awestruck and they exchanged autographs. Elvis was not one to ask for an autograph....ever. I have a few photographs of their meeting and besides the wind whipping their hair they both are smiling...ear to ear. Take care and may God bless you. Jeff Schrembs wwwElvisCollectorInfo

Met my husband in 1968 and this became our song and we would dance every time this was played by the band where we hung out and in our home over the years. Today this is still our special love song and smile every time we hear it. However it was song by Charlie Pride when we heard it. 48 yrs later!

It's not just the singing, the lyrics, and the style and phrasing of his voice; the piano is essential and so unique in this song as well.
@bobcatskis

You can’t modify the word unique. The definition of unique is “one of a kind”. It nonsensical to say things like “very unique” or “so unique”. Just as a heads up.

Reminds me of when my mother and I lived in Texas in the 70’s. This song used to be on the radio all the time and I sang along with it. Just a teenager but I loved it! Reminds me of my mother and the good times and feelings we had in those days. When country music touched your heart.

George Jones is one of my father's favs and in turn, mine. :) However, without these greats we wouldn't have the best country music around cause like I said, today's country just isn't the same at all!

Well, this was more of a smooth "adult contemporary," but good music knows no bounds. Today's "country" is neither "country" nor good music most of the time, alas.

I remember as a teenager a friend made me listen to Alabama and said how great they are and this is the future of country music and I was thinking this is crap. Then few years later another friend made me watch 2 hours of Garth Brooks on video. Sheesh I blame them, Just My opinion.

coockiestv This song reminds me of my great-grandmother. She loved the song and the man, lol. I lost her too many years ago to count, but she raised me and we did our tv watching together. This song makes me cry bc it reminds me of her and I watching this on tv when it originally aired. Sorry, if my comment seems all over the place, but I'm crying right now and listening to the song at the same time, so I may not make sense. Thanks for the upload and the memories.

Wonder Awhile Wow that's pretty good going having memories of great grandmother I have none of my grandmother ! Hey music is a spiritual medium when an artist writes a tune / lyrics that are sad or meloncoly & it makes us cry or reflect perhaps remember & think about a loved one , there's no shame in that ! No apologies needed . Too many people in our world have become insensitive & unfeeling in there hearts that's why there is so much suffering ...hard hearted people not giving a damn about others when they should it's good to know it won,t always be this way. Psalm 72 take care now .

I have always thought this was one of the most sexy songs ever. My Mom took me to see Charlie Rich in concert when I was 12. We had FRONT ROW SEATS! He closed with this song and, of course, a standing ovation! I stood there, age 12, all starry eyed, and Mr. Rich.... 5 ft away from me.... looked right down as me and winked at me. I will NEVER forget that, or this song! SCHMECKSY! HOT! SIZZZZZZLIN!
