screen matched means it was matched to a scene in the movie. confirming when it was used in the movie. usually with a screen frame paired with the prop. lots of props get made and not all of them are the one you see in the finished movie. so screen matching is important to know you have the right one.

Thanks for checking out our auction Charlie - whilst some may not see the value in collecting props, to many others they are valuable pieces of movie and cultural history - and collecting helps prevent these items from being lost to time, damaged, or even sent to landfill (which is what happened with many items from Kubrick films). Whilst prices can exceed everyones expectations from time to time, we strive to curate auction collections which can be accessible to the majority of people, with items starting at £200. Our partner auctions (we recently held one for Better Call Saul) are always no reserve, so lots can be purchased for a lower price if there is less bidding activity. The process of screen-matching means our experts find inconsistencies within a prop such as scratches, threads, scuffs and use those to locate a props use within a film. This can sometimes be down to something as small as a frame, or it could a one-of-one prop such as the bible from The Shawshank Redemption! If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via our socials :)

I think it’s a matter of what you’re getting. Sure, they’re the real gloves that Darth Vader wore - but who cares? They’re gloves. Gloves, as a clothing item, aren’t normally so expensive, let alone a close replica. Charlie makes a good point with the Freddy Vs Jason statue, it’s just not exactly worth that much to someone who doesn’t want it.

He’s saying “no one’s buying replicas for these crazy prices” I think that’s true. You can get replicas for way way cheaper prices n if someone’s into collecting replicas I’m sure they know exactly we’re to find what they want for a cheaper price. Cards aren’t really comparable to this there’s a huge difference between a rare card that collectors look for for years n a replica of a movie prop. The prices are literally just decided by how iconic something is. I don't get why he's acting like it's such a foreign concept to collect rare props. They can never be used in the movie again. Why do people buy authentic Gucci instead of knockoff Gucci? Because they want the authentic one. Why not just buy cheap copies of Pokemon cards even though they don't look as good? Because you want the real ones. It's literally the same concept except these are limited in number. We live in a world where people collect a piece of cardboard encased in plastic with a grading on it and people will pay $100,000 for that without question. Why? Idk. I'd take props over that. America produces literally the MOST iconic movies in the world, that are watched ALL across the world. It makes sense to want to own a piece of your favorite movie.
