Yea it's essentially like giving them only crackers to live off of and then Expecting their digestion and hydration will still be fine. Yes, those crackers have very specific nutrients that cats need, but they still get a lot of their hydration through their food, and kibble won't cut it.

I can't afford a primarily wet food diet on a brand I like with 3 cats, so I just try and monitor their health and make sure they drink enough. Our oldest is diabetic and has to be on wet food, but has access to dry if he wants a snack. We let the other two eat any wet food he refuses to touch. My youngest will even eat the expense prescription wet food my oldest refuses to even try lol

@@kathleenrayner1234 as someone currently studying, id never advice a raw diet/ homemade unless the animal has a significant health issue. Many issues arise from people feeding raw (theyre always trying to do the right thing) but it usually ends up harming the animal (or the people they live - especially in raw diets)

Yeah my cats have no trouble switching food. To them its “hey is that food, yup it’s food. Lets eat”

@@shadowcat63 You're lucky! 2 of my cats have no problems, either. But I think it's because they're young. Of my 2 older boys, one can NOT handle switching up his food suddenly. Barfing and spraying poops will commence *immediately*. Ugh.

@@shadowcat63 Ah, yes. I've had little piggy kitties, too. My solution was to allow them to free feed, but my vet *really* doesn't like that idea. They get their wet food in the morning and evening, and dry kibble is available all day.

We were lucky, our little girl was drinking regular. All over the flat were water bowls: lounge, dinining room, kitchen, our bed room. People said she will become a lazy cat. We offered her so many different places to make her drink, which she did. She lived mainly on cat biscuits, always had wet food next to her biscuits. She didn't like the bits, loved the gravy or jelly. ROO was regularly checked by the vet. The vet could respond quickly to a change in her blood test, especially her kidneys. With a different diet she always had good results. Bless our little girl. She passed away 4 months ago by the age of 17 years plus . We still miss her badly !!! ROO , WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH.! 💖💖🐈💖💖

Scary, yikes! Glad that there are actually people in the world who cares about these poor poor creatures. Its just sad that sometimes humans can be so cruel! Well hopefully these animals get better. Thank you Vets, Doctors, and many more people for helping, its just beautiful how they can fix something. It just means the world to the owners of these pets that they are okay!

What a 😍beautiful 😍❤girl. Her Mum is beautiful inside out just as Charli is.. Absolutely 💯 wonderful personalities. Charli is a lucky girl and her Guardian 💕 is lucky mum. They both love each other deeply. I'm so happy her problem was so quickly and easily taken care of. I love seeing Audrey and her twin. 😍 I hope to see more of them + Drs. Beautiful cat. Sometimes food is the answer, stopped mine getting uti problems from going onto a specific food. I'm always surprised how many cats eat wet food but mine will not touch it from the moment he could eat dry food he refused wet food or anything that wasn't only dry food. We keep multiple water bowls of fresh water for him though so he always has stuff to drink.

Cats that refuse to eat meat can become a problem, especially as they age, but there is unfortunately not much you can do. Glad the UTIs cleared up though. My cat when he was still alive had a very bad episode of a urinary blockage caused by a stone after several bouts of utis. I changed his diet to include cranberries and low ash, and he improved drastically and never had another in his life.

So my cat's not the only one! She refuses to eat anything but kibble (except occasionally a small amount of tuna), and she's picky even about the kibble. At least I regularly see her drink from her bowl and she's made it to 17 years without health problems...

@@AccidentallyOnPurpose yh we're going to try introducing small bits of fish or meat in if he looks interested in our other cats wet food and see what happens. Yh he had crystals in his urine so had to do the swap for his health which so far has helped him avoid infections

My cat sheds a lot BUT he’s part Maine coon. Bailey loves his hills foods. With dry food it’s best to measure their daily needs and let them have access to that always and of course fresh water. He loves his wet food as well.

You don't need to use the expensive science hills food. Just look for a high quality cat food at a good feed store. Read ingredients. Hills is not that great. By produces, pork,ECT. Doesn't look healthy to me. Limited ingredient foods can be better on the stomach.

Anyone have any advice for a cat that will literally only eat dry food? He ate wet food when he was younger and also when I was transitioning him to dry food but now he doesn’t eat it at all. I’ve given him different kinds and flavors of wet food, meat tubes, I’ve even tried giving him some tuna and boiled chicken but he eats none. He does drink half of the water in his bowl but I’m still concerned :(

Some cat's just don't like wet food! One of mine is exactly the same, drinks lots of water and absolutely refuses to touch any wet food I put down, only eats the dry stuff. It's fine for them, the only reason why dry food only diets aren't really recommended is because most cats don't drink a lot of water, so the vast majority of moisture they get comes directly from their food. As long as your cat is drinking lots of water and getting regular check-ups, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Fed is best. You're doing great :)

Think about having a water fountain style bowl also, they seem to encourage lots of drinking so that should help make sure your dry food only kitty drinks lots.

my cat doesn’t like the extra stuff. he only enjoys pate. maybe your cat is also very specific. even to flavours or texture. my cat doesn’t like random treats that a lot of cats are into…. so are have different likes and wants just like us

I'm not a vet so pls no one judge me but I really do think that feeding a raw diet could solve her coat and poop issues. A raw diet us very good for some pets but not all
