To save on the post stamp you can also do the following: 1. Write your address in the receiver field, 2. Write the address of the one who should get it in the sender field 3. Mark the letter as 'receiver payed' 4. When the letter 'arrives' you decline it 5. Letter should get sent back to the sender as not deliverable. And so you can save ¢80 just by committing one measly federal crime.

I love this because for this year's staff holiday party I duct taped a small empty box and stuffed it full of napkin "tissue paper" to gift a scented candle that I got on sale. The key is to apply the duct tape wrapping paper with care so they get too distracted by your resourcefulness and craftiness to criticize your cheapness. That's why I taught myself how to make a duct tape bow.
@joemcz25642 жыл бұрын
@@sgvincent100 Things to consider: -Price of duct tape changes depending on brand (you can find some cheap stuff for less than four bucks). -I only needed the one bow. If I bought a bag of bows for let's say $7, I'd have a bow that I needed and 47 bows that just take up space until next season. That one bow would effectively cost me that 7 dollars. -I was using stuff that was in my car. I could have run to a store to get a proper gift bag or box, but if I could use something I already had that would be money saved. Since I only made a small dent in my roll of duct tape, I'd guestimate that I didn't use more than a quarter's worth of tape for the whole process. All in all, I saved money by making a bow out of duct tape rather than buying something from the store or online. ....Can you tell I'm procrastinating?

So my mother went to Big Lots around 07, and she picks up these sparkling flavored waters because she likes the bottle. It's thin and good for storage she thinks. Anyway, she finishes the drinks and starts using the bottles for this and that, few bottle for storing cream, another has some cleaner under the sink, another one she's using for a water bottle. She's got a couple she shoves some of those, those tuna casserole noodles, I can't remember the damn name. So she's cleaning up the kitchen one day after making a batch of lefse for Faith Lutheran, and she remembers that she forgot her vitamins that morning. She throws em back there and starts drinking from the bottle, to get em down. But she notices they feel funny in her mouth. They start to dissolve. At first, she thinks it's the pills. Bad batch, she figures! She looks at the bottle, and sure enough it's the kitchen cleaner. She and Dad run over to the urgent care over there by the old Stamart and explain the whole situation. And she's thinkin', that's it. That's just IT, ya know. So she's writing up the service on the back of a Kroll's kitchen coupon from her purse. She's trying to decide between "beyond the sunset" and "a mighty fortress is our God" when the doctor comes in. I don't know if you know her, she's ah, she's Turtle Mountain Chippewa or Metis, I can't remember. And Mom is from Bottineau, so she's asking if she knows so and so while that doctor tries to take her information, ya? Anyhow, she calls poison control about this cleaner. I think it's that Mean Green stuff, it's always on clearance at K-Mart it seems like. And wouldn't ya know it, it's just vinegar and this and that. She gets the all clear. Anyhow, we're having a Speghetti supper to cover the bill down at Northridge next week Friday about 7 o clock and you should come down for that if you can make it

What about using both sides of the swifter pad ...? and you also can save on laundry detergent: example: four ways to use underpants. (Forward, backwards, right side out and vice versa)... and then I guess if you were at Walmart you can use it for a mask.

My dad writes all his notes (of which there are A LOT) on old mail and envelopes. His work van looks like a mail truck exploded in the cab. He also reuses plastic Gatorade and Ensure bottles to make ice packs for coolers then drinks the water when it melts. I'm not telling yous my personal midwestern cheap hacks.

We do the reused-plastic-water-bottle thing to make “freezer packs” for coolers, too.

Wait there are other people who re-use zip bags?? Growing up all my friends coming over we’re horrified that we washed them and used the again. Waste not want not y’all
@Tina060193 жыл бұрын
I do it, but only if the bag hasn’t held meat or anything greasy. Grease + plastic “baggies” bind together too strongly to break up with detergent & water.

When I was growing up my mom and grandparents always washed the zip lock bags. They probably still do. Always thought it was gross.
@AudreyHepburnCHick3 жыл бұрын
I was at a friend's house one time cleaning up after a meal and I asked if she wanted to save the bag or not because I didn't know what her threshold was (growing up we didn't re-use bags that had had raw meat, but we washed everything else) and I figured it was the polite thing to do. Anyway she gave me this HORRIFIED look and said "I'm not *that* poor!" I felt so looked down on.

I guess part of being Midwest nice nowadays must be to: a) Have 5 people create an unofficial shared payment plan (with 1 guy paying and being reimbursed for the other 4) for 1 premium account that lets 5 people use the same account at the same time b) Share 1 basic account (that only lets 1 user use the account at a time) with friends and family by making it so that each household has 1 day a week they use the account on
