I have lived on Whitesboro St, Plant St, and Arnold Ave in Utica. I left in 1974 and swore to never have to shovel snow again. I was last there on a visit in 2004. This video is sad because I still have many good memories of Utica and the people there.

This is so heartbreaking for me to see. My home town. I was born and raised here. I am 62 years old and i sold my home back there on Rugter St over 23 years ago. Took my son's and got us out of there. I have lived in Metro Washington Dc in Northern Virginia ever since. i cannot even begin to imagine where my kids would be today if i hadn't got them out of there when i did. I remember how absolutely BEAUTIFUL my hometown of Utica, Ny once WAS. People could walk the streets at night safely. Our homes did not need to be locked at night. The houses and streets were all Clean and SAFE. The kids played outside safely til the streets lights came on at night. That was the rule of thumb that we had to come in for the night. Playgrounds were all so clean and neat and our Schools were Clean and SAFE. 😔💔🙏
