Not all thumbs down represent dislikes. The YT algorithm suggests videos to people but in practice they may have no interest in the subject matter, by giving it a thumbs down it improves the accuracy of future ‘recommendations’ for that user.
@alprobert3 жыл бұрын
@@normanboyes4983 I see what you're saying but, if I get recommended a video outside the scope of my 'interests', I simply choose not to watch it. Rather than watch and dislike to the detriment of the uploader. There's a 'Not Interested' interaction that directly impacts your own future recoms.

I love this Wardrobe Build! Around 1963, having just obtained my GCE in Woodwork I produced drawings to 'remodel' my parent's tiny kitchen. I actually measured the size of all the cupboard and drawer contents to ensure that their capacity was optimised. All construction was done with basic hand-tools (bought from the money I earned at a Saturday job), outside (no Workmate bench), over the long summer vacation. My father approved my design and paid for materials; N.B. mostly plywood and the worktop was Formica glued with contact adhesive! Maybe forty years later my 'kitchen' was replaced by 'modern units' and worktops. My mother, bless her, said that my 'bespoke design' was far better! I have never regretted that my Secondary School taught me Woodwork, Metalwork and even Brickwork as well as Technical Drawing! With 'A Levels' in Physics and Mathematics my career was in Computer Engineering and that gave me greater skills in electrical installation than most 'electricians' and greater skills in 'Mechanical Engineering' than most 'mechanics'! I, with some 'self education' have taken on every trade! Plastering was was the most difficult, agonisingly exhausting and painful - that is one I will forever leave to the 'professionals'.

When I started the Channel I had a faint hope that I could bust a bit of the fear and/or apathy that has sprung up in recent times towards DIY but to see the things people have built from watching my vids is truly humbling! The thing about DIY is that it's very satisfying and I think generally good for one's mental health (not to mention a good way to save a few pennies), which is particularly important in these times. Thanks again, good luck with the forthcoming DIY projects and drop me an email if you ever have any queries 👍🏻

It's controversial mate, and I'm still soul searching over it. On the advice of an interior designer I heard on the radio, we've painted everything in the room - walls, skirting, window frames - the same colour, a pale blue, and we LOVE it. Removing that contrast makes the room seem larger and helps you focus on the outside. However we choose the wardrobe paint before we made that decision. So it could massively backfire or alternatively become a "wow factor" feature in the room. Only time will tell 🤞🏻

Hi Charlie. Great to see you making wardrobes again, you inspired to take up more DIYing a few years ago with one of your older wardrobe builds. I've experimented with plenty of rollers for cabinet painting now and I think I have found the answer - "Rota Premier Concave Mini Roller" from Toolstation. They are foam rollers with concave ends which eliminates the streaking you can get with traditional foam rollers. I normally get a really nice finish with them. Good luck with the rest of the build, they are looking really good.

Hey Charlie, was really hoping you would take us through how you measured the angles for The end boxes, not many videos in that on tinternet and would be great to be taken through how to get the angles
@CharlieDIYte3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry about that Darren. If you pause it at 02:35 you'll see how I got the angles. I basically put the box without the angled section on its side, rested the diagonal piece on top and then drew on that diagonal piece a line in each corner where it hit the box. That was my cut line. Does that make sense? If not I'll see if there's any other way I can describe it.

I use an old matchbox for my scribing tool as you can use it on the thin sides or the wider face/back pieces and it's readily handy in the tool draw on my workbench but you can use anything even a scrap piece of timber offcut.

Charlie - this has been and is a really good series and you are well on the way to producing a well finished product. Great use of the trim router. A shame you sprung for the Erbauer track saw prior to seeing Peter Millard’s recent review of the larger Triton and Erbauer (185mm) but you have a competent and capable tool. In hindsight though purchasing the Evolution and the Erbauer does put you into Festool territory.😉 Anyhoo - good job.👍

Hi Charlie, great progress and I like the face detailing with the softwood moulding which gives a touch of class. I think you may have been more successful gluing it onto the metalwork with PU cartridge adhesive such as can be bought from Toolstation etc. It sticks like sxxx to anything and joints dissimilar materials really well. It's also good at gap filling not that your work has any! All the best😁👍

Nice job Charlie. I am still not sure about the metal band, but at least you used it in the correct orientation. I also made a cyclone collector similar to yours and it works well. The only problem is a collapsing barrel, which i have fixed for now with some internal wooden re-enforcement.
@paulroberts21113 жыл бұрын
I agree about the metal band, correct orientation, great idea but not sure of implementation. I would prefer several fixings in both layers of the MDF shelves. Really impressed with your execution of the wire loom. It really demonstrates the complexity required to deliver a lighting system for a built in wardrobes. To a layperson they would open a door and be pleasantly surprised that there's an auto lighting system without any appreciation of the work planning and execution required to deliver a simple lighting system, well done bud for you persistence and determination to deliver those lights.

Quick pro tip, when attaching your fillers at the sides add a couple of biscuits up the vertical edges of the mdf and it'll help your alignment and stop it pushing away from the side of the carcass as much, dominoes are best but we don't all have the budget for them 🤷♂️
