That’s a genius fly. Laser dub is some fantastic stuff but never would have thought about using it for an abdomen.

Caught my first Black Drum today on the Brazos River with this little beauty. The Drum sucked it in and destroyed the fly. Thanks!

Another great looking fly thanks for sharing, my wife is getting mad at me. Every time you put a new fly on your channel, I buy material from your store to tie it with. Looking forward to the next one.

I wish i was able to attach my 1st attempt at this fly....... Cause for only tying for 5months now it did NOT turn out to terrible. Thank you for making this video and the creative mind behind this innovative piece. Please thank your friend for this. Ive watched this video a few times and just had to try it. Mine is slightly different but its the same result. 17 oct 23

Wonderful piece of art. May o suggest you pull the camera back some. There’s a significant portion of your work out of the picture. Thank you. I need to tie these for sure.

Brian Silvey does something very similar with Antron fibers for his edible emerger caddis

I’ve had a hard time making the body last more than a few fish. It starts to fray and come undone. I’ve tried coating it with superglue to increase durability with some success. Any other suggestions?

I noticed you never slide your dubbing up the thread and just wrap the thread. Why? Don’t you slide the dubbing up the thread? Does it change the tightness of the dubbing wrapped onto the thread?
@CharliesFlyBox Жыл бұрын
Yes, I generally don't slide my dubbing as it does indeed make it looser on the thread. With a coarse dubbing like this it's probably not a huge deal but I don't like to disturb the eveness of the original strand and with finer dubbings, I find sliding it breaks it free of its grip on the thread. My two cents, but I think not sliding it makes for a more durable fly.

That is an interesting way of doing an abdomen. You are right caddis pupa imitations will be the thing for guys like me that like to stand in cold running water. Nevertheless, I do like standing in a hot shower after a day of fishing.
