Wait does south africa have the same candy and stuff as New Zealand? I'm from NZ and we have all those candys that the interviewer gifted? There are a lot of South African and NZ similarities.

Charlize theron smartly diverted the virginity question. She is damn smart.Asking questions about Losing virginity is very personal and stupid on the part of interviewer

Margaret foes a reasonable interview. However, I do hope she does not think her accent is the posh way South Africans are supposed to speak over here. At times she sounds like she has a speech impediment. Best go back to your original accent, girl.

Hmmm. Rix, are you talking about me or Charlize? Many people suggest I have a speech impediment. I am no longer hurt by it. This is my voice. I have been teased and criticized for it since I was a young girl at school. I accept myself and don't judge myself. My accent has changed depending on where I lived. Elocution was one of the things afforded me growing up. So when I was young I sounded incredibly British. When I moved to the States, my accent softened. I'm often shocked at how I sound. My voice - when I hear it recorded. But I don't worry about it too much. Naturally both my accent and Charlize's has changed over the years as it does when your ear is surrounded by other accents and you have to adapt your speech unconsciously both in vocabulary and delivery so the people you encounter don't spend their time going: What? I am like a good stew, a blend of my life experiences, not trying to be anything other than who I am. I am okay with that. I think Charlize is okay with that. And I know you too are okay with who you are. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving me a note. I love to hear from those who subscribe here and I hope you will return. Warmly - M

@@MargaretGardinerUniverse OMW, Margaret. I never mentioned Charlize"s accent once in my comment. IMO she has done an admirable job of adopting the full-on American accent without sounding affected or pretentious, at all. Of course, all of us pick up on the accents of our environment. My own American accent tends to make me sound a little like Liewe Heksie, so I have to be mindful of voice inflection when I speak. That does not mean I am trying to be what I'm not. I feel absolutely positive that you did not mean for your response to my comment to sound so decidedly condescending. Therefore, I won't bring up again how frightfully pretentious you had come across in that interview. Please do not upset yourself over a single observation.(Not to be confused with judgement.) Be well and be happy.

@@BubbleheadOMW Ek het nie geweet of jy oor ek of Charlize gepraat het omdat ek het niks vreemd gedoen nie. So I wasn't sure. Ek weet nie waarom jy voel ek pretentious is nie, en ek was nie condescending nie wanner ek geantwoord het. See previous sentence for an explanation. Because I didn't think either of us (her nor I) were putting on a posh accent, nor being anything but ourselves, I took the time to try and figure out what you might have picked up on. I'd love to learn. Please go ahead an embroider on your observation on how I was frightfully pretentious. It's a bit confusing to me and I'm always open to understanding what others see. You clearly are observing something I'm not intending so I'm circling black to get better understanding. I'm totally NOT upset. Smiles. Rest assured. But I am totally curious. You've made the observation that I'm frightfully pretentious and then added that I'm condescending. Neither a judgement, merely an observation. So please do share so I can better understand and learn.

@@MargaretGardinerUniverse I think you sound lovely and I like your channel. It sure sounded like judgement to me those comments about an accent. Growing up in Canada we had a family friend an elderly lady who, looking back, must have had a posh Australian accent. I’d rather work on my relationships with others than worry about how others look or sound. If someone sounds posh or broad , so what. As long as we can make ourselves understood. People getting triggered to make judgement says more about themselves than the other. You don’t have to respond, just wanted to add my support!

@@hirsch4155 Bouke, that is so kind of you. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that you took the time not only to watch but to comment. I'm not very 'me' focused, I'm usually concentrating on other people - like you said, connecting. But I always try and figure out where someone is coming from. So. Just. Thank you!
