They hit on a topic that I've always wondered about. Why do we not have mandatory education for parenting? Why is it we don't study child wellness and development in school? Being a parent is one of the most demanding things anyone can undertake and we're all just allowed to wing-it.
@DaxSass
@DaxSass 6 жыл бұрын
jasonlajoie well I think it is called survival of the fittest, the richer you are, the fitter you and your descendants will survive.....nobody cares about the poor and its education. I know, it is cold and hard, but nothing has changed in about 3000 yrs. If you make it, you just make sure that your kids get it to ensure success continuation. Try to reform education and you get called a socialist destroyer of freedom, go figure.

The same reason school curriculum doesn't include wiping your butt, cooking, mowing the lawn, and flossing your teeth - your parents or guardians are supposed to teach you that.

My high school had an elective class. I ran out of classes to take and ended up having to take it - I didn't want kids then and still don't (20 years later). I remember it being more about child development and how expensive children are than anything. Seemed more like a way to reduce teen pregnancy than anything. A lot of communities and hospitals have free parenting classes. Not to mention there are 1000s of books on parenting. Not that anything prepares anything fully, but resources do exist.

So true some parents are unfit to raise a chicken let alone a kid, as for me i suffered a lot because of my mom being an unfit parent she bullied me mocked me as a child . I was bullied and still she told me to go to school despite the bullies attempted to kill me. You think a woman in her 50s would know better but no. And she didnt do it because she hated me but because she is that unfit Parents has the power to bring another Hitler to this world or another Einstein. And also in school they don't teach things that help in real life crises. Education system has a long way to go

Young Adult - seriously underrated. Her performance is wonderful. Glad she grew too tall for dance...a true life closes a door, go through the window...interesting how when a person is not geared to fail, not throwing road blocks in front of themselves...they can fly. A message for everyone. I think someone just got the title wrong...although the statement is true and I don't doubt this cool woman said it. Can't wait to see this movie.

Captain Phoenix - Melania is most certainly not a victim, and Trump has likely always been an asshole. She willingly married him as a gold digger, everyone knows that. To anyone reading this in 2019 and wondering about the title and what her views on the matter are, she said about her role in Tully and Monster that she was a professional, and if a director asked her to gain weight or lose weight she didn’t get offended, she did it because it was the job. In our society where directors will think twice and have PR people in the room when asking an actress to get fit or heavier for a role, but no one bats an eye at asking an actor to hit the gym 3 hours a day for 6 months for a shirtless scene, I think it’s an interesting take. I’m not saying it’s the same, no one is, I’m saying one of the best actresses on the planet thinks it’s a normal ask. I really respect her for it.
@NarynbekGilman
@NarynbekGilman Жыл бұрын
So, you don't mean that those who get uneasy about changing weight are wrong?
@LordAsturgis
@LordAsturgis Жыл бұрын
@@NarynbekGilman I think they’re free to be uneasy and say no to the role, but I also think that if it’s okay to ask Chris Hemsworth to eat nothing and work out 4 hours a day for 6 months for a role, the same can be asked of a woman. Sorry, that’s an old comment lol
@NarynbekGilman
@NarynbekGilman Жыл бұрын
@@LordAsturgis It seems we gotta understand the context. As you said, it's not the same. I totally agree about the professionalism. But there is another layer and it's about how society views the human body and the impact of this view on men and women. It seems while men don't get in much trouble in normal or muscular bodies, women get it significantly harder in the other two cases.
@LordAsturgis
@LordAsturgis Жыл бұрын
@@NarynbekGilman That’s very true. But can we agree that having the body the script demands is a fair ask no matter the sex, if we consider that it’s part of the character, and of acting, hence the job, especially when paid millions? Looking good is part of their job. Isn’t it better to say “You’re a great actress, I want you for the role but you need to put on 60 pounds or work out for 6 months” instead of saying nothing, and settling for a lesser actress that has the right body already? Look at Connie Nielsen, 57, playing the queen of the Amazons in Wonder Woman. Amazing actress, was asked to get in insane shape for the role and happily did it. Everyone said she was literally the first one to start working out every day. If they hadn’t had the gall to ask her to get super fit, they probably would have had to settle for someone who looked the part but wasn’t as good a fit in terms of presence and acting chops. I don’t know.
@NarynbekGilman
@NarynbekGilman Жыл бұрын
@@LordAsturgis I get it. I just hope they take the mentioned problem into account in, maybe, some other way. However, maybe I'm wrong about the current extent of the problem, which would be great. But I'm not sure so I worry.

Normally what someone's wearing doesn't really register with me . You have cloths on , good. An exception to that rule, her outfit is just absolutely stunning. Even without the sparkle to it, I love how elegant and modest it is. Beautiful, I love it so much. Super striking with the red lip. Of course, beyond the dress I admire the woman in it for her skill and ability as an actress. My first impression of her was her role in the Devil's Advocate. Fantastic range and transformation. I need to watch more of her movies.

Young Adult…a brilliant & funny film. Also merciless: Charlize’s character learns nothing whatsoever from her exploits and mistakes. Bombed at the box office, naturally.

Totally related to this film. I'm not a woman and I don't have kids. But I think about the reflecting on the younger me and wanting that youth that freedom. Sometimes we feel we lost the essence of who we used to be. And we try to reclaim that.

I wish she would revert to her old Afrikaans accent when reliving childhood stories. I wonder if she does when she visits South Africa. Or when talking to her Mom on the phone.

I thought her reason for liking horror movies, as a younger girl, was universal. The local ghost/monster story places were also popular, for the same reason. But that might be a more rural thing, haunted houses, etc.

The whole idea of gaining weight for a role attracted me to this. She did it for "Monster" and for "Tully," the latter movie she talks about. BUT SHE DOES NOT TALK ABOUT GAINING WEIGHT FOR EITHER MOVIE. Also, although she talks about her kids, briefly, and being a mother, she did not gain weight for either of them because she ADOPTED. So, WTF with the title? Maybe she did not gain weight for either role, just wore a fat suit? And whoever wrote the title for this video had seen both or either movie but had not watched the video. Idk...
