A lot of women don't seem to mind gaining substantial amount of money from these sexual harassment suits. Regardless of what they say, it is not just about speaking out or putting predators in jail. It's about money also. And when money is involved, there is plenty to gain.

Not really. There's money IF you win the lawsuit or have a convincing enough case that they offer a settlement - hard to do when harassment is often without witnesses. And even when that happens, it still becomes much harder to look for another job, colleagues will cut off communication, etc. Would you take that risk? Also, I take umbridge at framing it as "women don't seem to mind gaining substantial amount of money". If they were sexually harassed, they _deserve_ to be compensated, especially since they'll likely face a loss in some income following the case.

Many women understand the benefits outweigh the risks when claiming to be a victim of sexual assault. Often times the men are assumed guilty until proven innocent and the court of public opinion says to never question her truthfulness. Rhetoric such as Charlize that "women have nothing to gain" is absolute BS. Now is the best time to claim sexual assault against a man -- #MeToo made sure of that.

I don’t think it is always about the money. Sure, in civil suits they ask for money but these women wanted to stop Ailes from this behavior and have him face consequences. Read Chanel Miller’s book. She had witnesses and DNA proof and still her assailant got only a few months in jail. The trial took a year of her life, opened her up to the judgement and scorn of others not to mention the psychological damage of the assault itself. That is what Charlize means about they have nothing to gain by coming forward. Who would go through all that for a potential payout?
