Charlotte Fire responded to a fire at a multi-story hotel, with heavy fire and smoke showing from the third floor. The incident was upgraded to bring in additional fire crews and resources. Firefighters evacuated hotel guests through heavy smoke and rescued two victims. A 4th Alarm was called at 7:55 p.m. 6 patients were evaluated, and one patient was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. Charlotte Fire investigators determined that carelessly discarded smoking materials likely caused the fire, but an electrical failure was not eliminated. All the hotel guests were transferred to two area hotels through the combined efforts of Charlotte Fire, the Red Cross and the property manager. The estimated property/content loss was $250,000.
