Damn, great video! Lived here a long time and never heard of the quarry. Pretty cool, definitely gonna check it out. I lived in 30-40 cities (big and small) and Charlotte is the perfect blend of both IMO. Here are a few more spots I'd highly recommend to anyone coming to check it out: Sports lovers: (uptown has a ton of options depending on the time of year) - Bank of America stadium hosts the Panthers and Charlotte FC MLS games, both are a great time and reasonably priced compared to other professional sports - Same goes for Spectrum arena where the Hornets play their NBA games - Truist Field hosts the Charlotte Knights AAA baseball and its probably the best bang for your buck in terms of price because the stadium is beautiful and it feels like a big league venue. - All of these are within 4-5 blocks of each other near Roman Bearden Park. - Charlotte Motorspeedway is like 20 mins away and I'm not even a Nascar guy but its pretty crazy! Food: Uptown: - Merchant and Trade (swanky rooftop bar & bites, incredible views) - The Cellar (I know he mentioned it, but wanted to echo bc its that good) - La Belle Helene (French, just a really unique place in Charlotte with good food) - Caroline's Oyster Bar (Seafood, Wine; its in the JW Marriott so grab a great dinner here then head to the roof for a nightcap and amazing views at Aura) South End: - Yunta (Peruvian, don't let the bland exterior trick you, this place has such a cool vibe, feels like you're in Miami lol, and the food is INCREDIBLE. Get the grilled octopus!) - Yamazaru (Sushi, the best sushi in the city! Its a small place that gets packed so expect a wait but totally worth it.) - Fota Buta (Ramen, along the rail trail, with just massive bowls of high-quality ramen) - QC Pourhouse (Best bar food/sports bar. A great place to start your day drinking vibes and lunch because its the perfect central location to everything else) - Trolley Barn (The best for large groups. Wide menu range, great drinks, cool vibes) - Eight and Sand (Breakfast/brunch/coffee. The Nashville hot chicken biscuit is bigger than your head, its incredible) - Charlotte Beer Garden (A huge bar, great rooftop, great all-around spot) - Barcelona (tapas, great cocktails, cool vibe) Noda: - Benny's (pizza. yeah its a franchise but the one in Noda kills it. The slices are ENORMAOUS... seriously, you've been warned lol) - Goodyear House (request the backyard patio, it alone is worth going for such a charming vibe) - Haberdish (southern food, if you're coming to charlotte you have to get some southern food at least once and this is the place to do it) - *Optimist Hall (food hall. my favorite spot because I can never make up my mind lol. Get the empanadas & dumpling lady!) *not sure its technically NoDa but close enough - Noda Company Store (a unique little patio for drinks and bites) Plaza Midwood/Central: - Supperland (southern food; good luck getting in. But if you can, go) - Workman's Friend (Irish pub; try to go on a Sunday because they usually have a group playing Irish singalongs and its a fun time) - Ace No. 3 (burgers; one of those great spots that just has burgers, fries and milkshakes. best burger in town) SouthPark/Park Rd: - Restoration Hardware (the furniture store? trust... they have this wild, super high end rooftop restaurant on it that feels like the Great Gatsby. If you're feeling fancy...) - Steak48 (steakhouse. your typical high-end, seductive steakhouse, but they do it pretty damn well. Best steak you'll have in town... bring your wallet!) - Baku (Sushi/Asian fusion. Right next to steak48. Another pricey but cool spot- much like all of south park)

I've lived here all my life and I don't like it here. If you go to uptown it DEAD all the time. Everything is 20-40 min drive away. Everything he mentioned its a long ass drive. Transportation sucks. You need a car in charlotte. Malls close early, only 1 mall in charlotte that is pretty decent. Food is meh... You'll easily get bored here unless you don't like to go out than it might be for you.
@rixygutierrez
@rixygutierrez 3 жыл бұрын
in my opinion, the museums suck, food, nightlife, everything is just sucky all around. Beaches are 4 hours away. Mountains are like 2 hours away, I'm definitely considering moving elsewhere. Schools can be bad. A decent apartment will cost you upwards $1300. I find myself visiting the same places I know bc I can't seem to find anything to do here. Carowinds is okay it's small.

Brilliant tour, thank you. And, you've only just scratched the surface really. I lived in CLT for 5 years and at times, I hate to admit it, but would think there could be more. Now that I've moved away to a backwoods stuck in the 60s town in south australia......I yearn for a beer at Resident Culture, a stroll along the greenways, heck, even a fling around the 485 on my Harley for a bit of speed, Charlotte really does have a lot. And good job featuring the Cellar, Rob's done an amazing job with the Duckworth's franchise - love it.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy our city. An interesting way to spend a couple of hours might be to take the light rail to the southern end in Pineville, a few miles from the SC border. Then take it all the way north to the end at UNC Charlotte. Get off and explore wherever the mood strikes. There is a phone app that shows the schedule, and another one to buy tickets. It’s quiet, comfortable and safe.

Awesome video with a lot of cool things that I haven't experienced yet here. Great job on this. One other thing I'd mention is Charlotte's history as the first branch Mint in the United States. Anyone that spends enough time there will notice some reference to the Mint. This is because one of the first gold rushes in the U.S. happened nearby and the first mint to produce coins from these mines was created in Charlotte. We're very proud of this (well at least I am :D ). The Mint Museum in Uptown is NC's first art museum and also displays some pretty cool original coins minted here.

Great video. One thing you missed and one thing you unfortunately didn't: 1) To me, the whitewater center's mountain biking trails are the best in the region. 2) Being from Gastonia (but now live in Dallas, TX), I was SOOOO sad when Charlotte discovered Crowder's Mountain about 10 years ago. Used to be 2 to 3 people on the mountain at a time. Now 200 - 300.

As a Charlotte native this was pretty good but I’m still wondering how you forgot the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Don’t worry I’ll help you out. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is a tourist attraction right in the heart of the downtown area, it shows the incredible and rich history of NASCAR and what it has to do with Charlotte. Also in Freedom Park there is the Nature Center which belongs to the discovery center organization the helps educate people on a multitude of different things it’s actually really cool. Another thing there is a steakhouse that is delicious called Del Frisco’s. It’s pretty expensive but really good. Last thing, Charlotte has the mint Museums which are incredible check them out.

Sheeesh I lived in Hollywood beach FL next to Hallandale and sure there's no way on Earth to compare these two regions if you are coming to or moving from anywhere in South Florida to Charlotte. Charlotte is for retirees that don't require much and for 30s plus that also do not require much as they begin their Family. I'm actually moving back to the area to Coral Springs FL, mostly because my rent in Noda is 1800s therefore I rather spend that in South Florida.

Born and raised Charlottean who is happily gone from there. Straight talk - it is very boring outside of being compared to smaller NC/SC cities. There is not much that differentiates it from any other mid-sized city. It is full of chain restaurants, low on public parks, minimal public transit, one of the most expensive airports and extremely expensive for such a bland banking/work centered town. A hint is in this video - mainly that the majority of recommendations are 30 min - 1 hour + away from Charlotte itself. Out of state developers are ruining it further by building more predictable bland chain restaurant & apartment focused land use. So if you are have to relo there for a job but don't really need to be entertained by a city, then it is survivable. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere to live. The few things that are worth experiencing in the video include the Whitewater Center, Heirloom Restaurant, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Thirsty Beaver (who sticks it to aforementioned out of state developers), Dilworth Tasting Room and Vin Master (not mentioned but walking distance from Dilworth Tasting Room). Soult Gastrolounge sadly was a victim of out of state developers.

viva chicken is overpriced chicken that you can make at home. There is literally nothing fancy or special about their chicken. Noble smoke is a good BBQ place.

For a city that's 41% white, 35% Black, 14% Hispanic, and 6% Asian, the Black representation on what to do in these videos is lagging. I'm planning to visit Charlotte, but when I type in the city, videos that don't represent me are what pops up. I'm almost made to believe Black folks are a minority there that I had to Google the demographics. For example, this video recommends restaurants that represent every demographic but Black. That says so much and KZbin got to do better with their algorithm.
