I am now 27 and I picked up on some things I didn't see, some people believe that Charlotte could of been a good person. Some people think Cleo made her go crazy. But I also think gaining powers made her a bit nuts as well. There is also a weird theory that Charlotte was the real mermaid because she could have multiple powers and in Mako Mermaids they had multiple powers as well c: But its all just theories. The reason Charlotte got more powers was because she was alone when she jumped in the moon pool, so all the magic went into her, while all the 3 girls jumped at the same time thus the power got split to them.

I used to watch this show when I was younger and did not like Charlotte. But then I watched it again and I am 23 years old, I must say I can relate to Charlotte and see where she's coming from. I'm going to be the odd one in the comments, but I don't think Charlotte is that evil or evil. I think there are many factors to consider, such as Cleo was never nice to her - she was passive about her feelings for Lewis and feelings of jealousy, Rikki was rude to her just like she was rude to Lewis many times while Emma was the only one that tried to help Charlotte when she first became a mermaid. The other two didn't welcome her that much. Granted Charlotte was stuck up and egotistical while a mermaid, but she was also misunderstood, bullied, and unwelcomed. I don't get why Rikki and Cleo immediately welcomed Bella in Season 3...

It clearly shown. She progressively became more and more controlling and unstable as the season went on, even more so after she became a mermaid. She let it all go to her head, thinking she could have it all, but was proven wrong when she took on all three girls at once. At the start of the battle, Charlotte had the upper hand, but the tables soon turned and she was defeated. Take ants for example. One on its own can be easily overpowered, (e.g. Charlotte bullying Cleo), but when there's a whole colony of them together, they can easily defeat an enemy. This is because they work as a team. This was the instance for Emma, Cleo and Rikki. One on their own wouldn't of been able to bring Charlotte down, but all three combined could because they're a team and their friendship is strong. Charlotte failed to realise this, assuming she'd win because of having all three powers, (she referred to herself as a "super-mermaid" in that episode where she also found out she had Emma and Rikki's alongside Cleo's). That and her cocky, arrogant demeanor doomed her from the start. Charlotte isolated herself from everyone in her efforts to keep Lewis and ended up losing him, due to her conniving ways. She had no one in the end and this sealed her fate.

This might seem like a bad thing but I’ve always thought that Charlotte gets treated unfairly. Cleo broke up with Louis in the first place so that wasn’t her fault and Cleo was acting a bit immature at the beginning. Also the time with the dolphin wasn’t really Charlotte’s fault that she was scared of the dolphin and reacted. Badly. But if you’re scared of something sometimes you act illogical. But Cleo’s reaction didn’t help. And when Charlotte turns Louis phone off, while still a bad choice, she didn’t know it was an emergency. While Charlotte may have done some pretty bad things like steal Cleo’s locket, attacking Nate and trapping in the mermaids in a cupboard all the mermaids acted jealous of Charlotte in some way. Even Charlotte’s last appearance is quite sad. She had a bad time with the mermaids but her ending wasn’t even her. It was the moon spell. When ever the Cleo, Rikki or Emma do bad things because of the moon (like attack Louis ) there is no lasting consequences. But with Charlotte everyone takes this as a choice on her own part and not the moons and she loses her tail. Charlotte probably can’t even remember all of it.Either way I don’t believe Charlotte should be labelled as evil merely misguided and shouldn’t receive all this hate.

To be honest I actually didn’t hate charlotte that much until the end, in my opinion at first I was kind of happy that Lewis found someone else to be with because sometimes Cleo, rikki, and Emma don’t appreciate him enough, but at the end when she attacked them and forbid Lewis from seeing them I didn’t like her that much anymore, but I never truly hated her like a lot of people did and I still feel like if the stuff at the end didn’t happen she could have been given a good redemption arc

Notice how in this series there is always a mean or annoying character; and they are each meanest to one of the three girls??? Season 1: Mariam. Mariam steals Rikki’s spray and wastes it, buys the one and only locket that Rikki wants just to get on her nerves, then in an attempt to split up Rikki and Zayn kisses him in front of Rikki while he attempts to get it back. Season 2: Charlotte. Charlotte deletes a call from Lewis’ phone to stop Lewis from talking to Cleo, then ends up stealing it. She goes into Cleo’s room and steals something without her permission. Slams a door shut and locked on Cleo and Emma, then controls the pipes causing them to spray water onto the girls turning them into mermaids. Tells Cleo lies about Lewis and how he doesn’t want to know her anymore, then throws water at her, causing her to fall on the ground, and she rips Cleo’s locket off of her neck, taking it and leaving Cleo terribly upset. In the cafe Charlotte tells Lewis that Cleo gave her the locket, again as Cleo walked in, asked him to put it on her, than kisses him, as she glares at Cleo which leaves her to think that Lewis is supporting her bullying actions. Season 3: Sophie. Sophie puts a hot chilli pepper in a juice Bella was making in an attempt to get her fired. Refuses to let Bella and the band preform if they don’t sing the boring songs of her choice. I think that the most evil character is Charlotte. What do you think? Comment below.

Idk why yall hate Charlotte so much, she was just a harmless girl who had a crush on lewis but everyone else got mad at lewis for being with Charlotte like what the heck jealous much? He doesnt belong to cleo she broke up with him and she saved Lewis's boat when they just use their powers to almost cost cleos dad his job. This makes me angry because Lewis obviously has risked his well-being, putting his neck out or these girls on numerous episodes in the first season. For them to drop him like a bad habit and not be real friends irritates me. They don’t even ask him how he is. Every time Lewis interacts with Charlotte, however, she has healing words that he is obviously comforted by; he even uses some of her wisdom to help the mermaids out with controlling their enhanced powers. Cleo gets incredibly irritated and jealous over Lewis spending time with this new girl. Although the viewer knows Lewis is only being a friend, it is obvious Charlotte is crushing on Lewis. At least she is being polite over it. Charlotte being more sensual, artistic, level-headed, fuller-figured, and articulate than the mermaids, Lewis finds kinship with the human girl. This causes Cleo to always draw the worse conclusion of Charlotte. Cleo’s paranoia has her digging into Charlotte’s past and invading her privacy by taking her private property. This stigma follows Charlotte the whole season, she really doesn’t get a break. Even though it is clear that Cleo wants Lewis back, Lewis is turned off with all the unnecessary aggression toward Charlotte. Lewis even turns down Charlotte’s advances politely on few occasions but eventually goes with her.

Sophie is way WORSE than Charlotte 💀 y'all are just too shallow to understand and see how Charlotte was the victim for most of season two. Even if she was "mean" and "evil" it's understandable because Cleo kept meddling in her and Lewis' relationship when CLEO ENDED THINGS WITH LEWIS, yet everyone conveniently forgets about that when it's time to drag Charlotte. CCharlotte has always been the best mermaid, she had all the powers, I think she should have continued, being the eternal enemy of the other mermaids, that was exciting.
