It actually has a happy ending with Wilbur realizing that NOT ALL of Charlotte's children deserted him,and so her three other daughters Joy,Aranea and Nellie all get to take their deceased mother's place by befriending him. Still, it is also sad when most of her children hatch in the spring and leave him as they "go off into the world to make their own webs,"which affects him so badly he threatens to leave,telling the old sheep,"I can't take it anymore; this place is too full of memories,first with Charlotte's passing and now this,"until the old sheep tells him,"Well, look over there-not ALL of the baby spiders are gone,there are three who apparently couldn't fly away,"Joy,Aranea and Nellie,again. Yes, as it says in the book at the very end,"he was never without friends,"even if Fern no longer came to visit him as she was growing up and "careful to avoid such childish things like sitting on a milkstool near a pigpen,"plus now with her new interest in Henry Fussy. "Fine swine,Zuckerman's famous pig."

@michaelpalmieri7335 7 жыл бұрын
Andy Kim In addition to "Charlotte's Web," the Sherman Brothers also wrote the music for, among other things, Walt Disney's version of "Mary Poppins" (1964), starring Julie Andrews, for "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1967), with Dick Van Dyke (who was also in "Mary Poppins"), for "Snoopy, Come Home" (1971), which is based on the "Peanuts" comic strip, and for a Broadway musical called "Over Here" (1974), starring the famous Andrews Sisters, Patty and Maxine (the third sister, Laverne, died in 1967). The show was a parody of movie musicals of the World War Two era (the title of the play itself is, of course, a spoof of George M. Cohan's famous World War One song, "Over There"). My mother saw this show along with some friends. What she remembered most about it was this one young man who was one of the extras. According to mom, this fellow kept showing off and upstaging everybody. "That young man is going to be a star one day" she said. A few years later, he did become a star after appearing in a certain television sitcom called "Welcome Back, Kotter" and later in a little film entitled "Saturday Night Fever." His name: John Travolta. "Over Here" revived interest in the "boogie woogie" music of the 1940s, and this, no doubt, is what inspired singer Bette Midler to record a remake of the Andrews Sisters' classic W.W.2 song "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B," which they first sang in the comedy movie "Buck Privates" (1941), starring Abbott and Costello.

I recently saw a television documentary about the Sherman Brothers on P.B.S. It seems they also wrote the music for another Disney movie, "The Jungle Book" (1967), as well as some of the tunes that were sung (and no doubt are still being sung today) by the animatronic characters at Disneyland. Here's something interesting. The Shermans' father, Al Sherman, was a songwriter too. Among other things, he wrote a song about Charles Lindbergh entitled "Lindbergh: The Eagle Of The U.S.A." I heard this song on a record album I borrowed from the library (when I was living in Yonkers, NY) which contained some old tunes from the 1910-1929 period. The song was also played during the opening credits for a 1976 Made-For-TV docudrama about "The Lindbergh Kidnapping Case," in which Cliff DeYoung played Lindbergh and Anthony Hopkins appeared as the alleged kidnapper, Bruno Richard Hauptmann. Hopkins won an Emmy Award for that role.

The book was banned in America because it is considered blasphemous for animals to talk. I've been sharing clips of from the movie all morning with messages like "This is blasphemy!" "Don't watch this movie or you will burn in Hell!" and my followers think its hilarious. In seriousness though, the goddamn Holocaust was blasphemy if there ever was blasphemy. Charlotte's Web is a children's story, but apparently since humans are the greatest of all lifeforms, they're the only kind who should talk in works of art, so the book is considered blasphemous.

True! Giving a good example: A yellew female and black male Labrador Retriever dog mates, the result is mother doggie gives birth to twelve puppies. 6 are black and 6 are yellow. Prejudice is rotten and wrong. The human race despite of one's genetic pool such as Caucasian or otherwise has a lot in common because we're all related to Adam and Eve. This song brings out that all living creation have a lot in common and similarities. Our creator Jehovah God at Psalm 83:18, Exodus 6:3.

It’s hard to believe E.B White hated this film because of the musical numbers

It was the same way with P.J. Travers, the author of "Mary Poppins." She was against the idea of Walt Disney turning her book into a movie because she wasn't too fond of animation and "whimsy," but eventually, Disney won her over, as we learned from the recent film "Saving Mr. Banks" with Tom Hanks as Disney. Significantly enough, Disney wanted to make his own version of "Charlotte's Web," but E.B. White wouldn't allow it.

Okay I realize I owe an explanation for my comment several years back. It's not the message that I don't like, it's the fact that it's being delivered through a song in the first place. I'm sorry, but I'm not a huge fan of musicals.

I don't know about you, but I LOVE musicals, including this movie! 👏🥰🤩❤️🎼🎵🎶📽️🔊🕷️🕸️🐷👩‍🌾 I added that farm girl emoji because she has dark hair like Fern, who grew up on a farm. The other emojis are, of course, self-explanatory.

I mom bought this VHS from McDonald's back in the day. I don't remember but I remember asking her why the McDonald's logo was on the movie. This was one her fav movies when she was a kid and wanted us to love it to. Ever since I seen this movie I've always wanted a pig.

Oh we've got Lots in common where it really counts Where it really counts, we got large amounts What we look like doesn't count an ounce We've got lots in common where it really counts You've got feathers, I've got skin But both our outsides hold us in I've got hooves, you've got webbed feet But we both stand up to eat 'Cause we've got Lots in common where it really counts Where it really counts, we got large amounts What we look like doesn't count an ounce We've got lots in common where it really counts You've got a beak and I've a snout But both of us can sniff about You say quack and I'll say neigh But we're talking either way 'Cause we've got Lots in common where it really counts Where it really counts, we got large amounts What we look like doesn't count an ounce We've got lots in common where it really counts You're born to swim and me to spin But we both love this world we're in We share the sun, the Earth, the sky And that's the reason why We've all got Lots in common where it really counts Where it really counts, we got large amounts What we look like doesn't count an ounce We've got lots in common where it really counts
