I’m really enjoying your reactions lately (mostly Nightwish/Floor and Epica), you really add something with your comments. First time hearing Charlotte was with Epica - sirens of blood and water. Fell in love with her voice immediately. And now with this song she definitely is on my list too. Had almost the same reaction as you did, she kicks *ss. Btw you got a new subscriber ❤

Oh I am SO glad you pulled Charlotte for reaction Anastasia! I loved watching your excitement here with her! I don’t want to go to long here but I can tell you that Charlotte is as talented as any metal queen. Yes she composes so much, she has done a song every month for like the last 40 months for all her Patreon members and then put into albums she has now put out 2 albums on her 6 feet under studios but now she recently signed on with Napalm for upcoming album The Exorcism, and this is the first song she just released a day or two ago from that album. Her past two albums in her solo work since leaving Delain have been more “ballad” like some a bit heavy but this is definitely getting back to her roots. By the way also she’s an absolute tender hearted sweetheart and I love that about her. she also has a ridiculously twisted sense of humor LOL! As to suggestions some of my faves of her are 1) Her collab with Dark Side Of The Moon in a cover of May It Be from Lord Of The Rings…Melissa Bonny in that one too…SO good! 2) Masters Of Destiny (Delain) 3) Delain live in Broerenkirk with Marco guest performer this is back in 2009 and still sooo good! Raw footage that you will like. By the way it is in a church lol! Marco is unofficial 6th member of og Delian, long story lol! Charlotte by the way is my dear Simone’s closest friend. Smoon is on one of her songs with her in upcoming album. Oh so glad u r turned on to her now!!

Definitely earned her place amongst the Dutch Metal Goddesses. It is on repeat here as well. Absolutely gorgeous genius music and video. God, this so good. We were spoiled with the quality of Ayreon beneath the waves and Simone Simons solo project lately. And now this tops it off. Life is Beautiful with all these Dutch gems.

I was a big fan of her work in Delain, and I love the new Delain as well. For her solo songs, I'd look at 'Soft Revolution', 'Lizzie'(featuring Alissa White-Gluz doing totally clean vocals), and 'Cry Little Sister', a cover of the theme song from the 80's vampire movie 'The Lost Boys'.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this 😊 The one song that I would definitely recommend, is Soft Revolution. This song, The Exorcism, is the first song from her new album that comes out Sept 20th, and it is also her first full solo metal album. The first two were a collection of songs released on Patreon and they vary from metal to pop. My favourite from there would be The Phantom Touch. Love the lyrics and vocals on that one. She used to be in a band called Delain, which broke up in 2021 and 3 of the members plus Charlotte (plus Sophia, keyboards) are now making the new Charlotte Wessels album, which makes a lot of Delain fans very excited. From what I’ve heard so far though, it seems to be heavier than Delain which makes me very happy 😊 So you will have to wait for the heavier CW songs to come out as the singles are released 🙂 There will also be a collaboration with Simone Simons and also Alissa White-Gluz, she has collabed with both of them before (eg Sirens, Fools Parade). Lastly I just want to say that I’ve been Charlotte’s Patron for 2.5 years and she is the nicest and kindest person and deserves all the good things coming to her.

She brought out a second song from her new solo album, coming on September 20th. The title is 'Chasing sunsets', quite different, a lot more symphonic metal, but with also her so recognisable fingerprint. Song is out since a few weeks and and is doing better and better on KZbin. She earns her place aside the Dutch metal queens Floor Jansen, Anneke van Giersbergen and Simone Simons, with who she also has collaborated. Her voice and style are absolute unique!

Awesome reaction! You asked for a top 3, so I'm gonna give you what I think would be the Top 3 songs to react to that showcase her talent the best 1. For her solo work I think one of the best showcases of her voice would be "Soft Revolution". It's more ballad-y and not as heavy as this one, but brilliant and very emotional nonetheless. And fully self-produced in her own studio! 2. For her previous work with Delain I would definitely suggest "Masters of Destiny" - an absolute powerhouse of a song. Epic instrumental, but her voice is also incredible. 3. Another Delain one: "Burning Bridges" One of the rare occasions of her doing harsh vocals (it's a fairly new thing for her), absolute banger as well A little extra: (ABOVE ALL 3 ABOVE: if you don't get to the older stuff, please make sure to react to her new singles once they come out (which will be pretty soon). Charlotte follows me on X. 3 songs ok. Burning Bridges Delain. Its the song that got me practising harsh vocals because I was like if Charlie can do it, why not. We Are The Others its about bullying. A young lady passed on because of bullying so Charlotte wrote this to let other's know its ok to be different. And.....My fellow Marko fan girl, The Gathering Delain Masters of Rock.
