When my kids' dad left after 14 years, for his new girlfriend, my boys were 6 and 10. When their dad left, he also cleaned out our joint Christmas Club account, so I had very little money to by my sons any presents for Christmas. Their dad spent the money on presents for her 3 kids. I went to work every day, mentioned it to my best friend, and on my last day of work before the Christmas break, my coworkers surprised me with 2 HUGE bags of wrapped presents from Santa, for my boys. I never asked for it, and was so overwhelmed with love and joy for my coworkers. I was stunned. It was a wonderful Christmas morning, because I was as surprised with the opening of the presents as my boys. People can be awesome! I'll never forget what they did for my sons.

I've been to one baby shower before and I brought no gift. We were working in a hospital and they just reserved one of the conference rooms for an after work party. Wasn't close to the mother at all, didn't even know about the party but they basically dragged everyone still there to eat food, play games and celebrate. It was a humble occasion but everybody was happy. All they wanted was a big crowd to share their joy. They thanked us all after. If I ever have a baby shower, that's how I'd like it to be.

I remember this one review on a Cat Cafe that I went to. To start off, this Cat Cafe housed rescues that they take care of greatly. There's even a wall with all the cat's info if you're interested in adopting one. They had pretty standard rules. Some of them was to not pick up the cats and to not harass any sleeping ones. They wanted to give the cats a positive and stress free environment. Anyways, this lady reviewed them harshly. She took her daughter to this Cafe thinking that it was pretty much a lawless petting zoo. Was surprised that she had to pay to get into where the cats where and that all the cats were apparently sleeping. So her poor daughter couldn't 'play' with them. She goes to say that they only want your money and disrespect their customer's wants. EVEN though, you get FREE, yes FREE refills of any type of coffee you want for an hour if you pay to see the cats. Plus all that money goes to the food, shelter and medication those cats need.

GIRL SAME. “Best friend” moved in with fiancé (now husband) and me. We offered for her just to pay her portion of rent and not utilities. She said if we were struggling and needed help she would. When that time came she refused ANY help, and judged us based on what we did spend money on. Mind you, without my husband, she’d have no electricity, internet or water. She told plenty of people that we were bad roommates and talked down on us to MY friends. We asked her to move out over a year ago, and when we said take your time, boy did she. She didn’t even start looking for a place until the tension was too much to bear. I’m half heart broken, and half relieved because we sacrificed and compromised so much that we didn’t have to. It’s great now, because we don’t have to walk on eggshells around someone who doesn’t appreciate or respect us.

I then tried to give the dishes away for free upon pickup, only to have people mad I wouldn't deliver them. I deleted an relisted them for $5 and ended up giving them to a lovely single mom who wanted to give them to her college age kid who was getting his first apartment with friends, who picked them up with no complaints and stuck a gift card in my mailbox when she left as a thank you. That person who wants to charge $150 a week for someone to live on her land and work for free sounds familiar. A few years ago, the 18 acre property across the road from mine was supposedly "bought" by a 17 year old girl and her meth-head boyfriend. I knew she didn't buy the property because a 17 yo can't enter a contract like that. They were squatters. She put out an ad locally that she would let people with RVs park on "her" land for $300 a month, *no questions asked, no background checks*. She told them there was water, but there isn't. One morning I go out and see a scummy-looking guy in a beat-up trailer right across the road, and he's got a hose hooked up to MY water spigot! I told him to leave, but he said he paid to be there (he wasn't even on the property she was claiming to "own". I called the sheriff, but they seemed to think I was wrong at first. They gave the guy 24 hours to leave even though it only took him 20 minutes to set up and he was literally parked in the road. When he finally left, he left lots of trash behind. Later on I found out who he was and why he didn't just rent space at one of the campgrounds. He was a registered sex offender (he raped a child) and had just recently been released from prison. At the time, I was living alone out here. Yikes! 😳 Fortunately, the girl and her creepy boyfriend weren't here long. One night I heard my dog snarling and tearing someone a new one. I saw that guy running away, and the door to my motorhome was open! He met my land shark, Joey! Good boi, Joey!! 🐕 Never saw either of them after that.

I told her she was welcome to use both tickets (I had already paid for the tickets, but said she could have both for free so it would make it easier for her to find a friend to go with.) She replied, saying how angry she was that I could make the decision not to go without discussing it with her first! No matter what I said she didn't seem to be able to grasp the concept of a broken leg and continued to tell me about the things we had done together when it was my birthday. I asked her if she had ever broken any bones before and she said that she hadn't, but her attitude was as if I had planned the whole thing to ruin her birthday. I said we would do everything we planned to do and more when I was better, but we ended up breaking up as our relationship was not the same after that. As an artist, I’m forever having people expect me to make free drawings or paintings for them or pay me what works out to be about 35 cents an hour for 16 hours of work… Most recently was a colab I did with my husband. He wanted to make a wooden scroll saw plaque and asked me to draw a wolf face. I had NO clue what I was doing because I’ve never made stencils for those before and you have to be careful because the areas you want to cut out can’t completely surround the areas you want to keep. I looked at a few pictures for reference, but it took me HOURS to draw half the stencil on poster board, then I had my husband just cut the pieces out while the poster board was folded in half so it was symmetrical. He traced it onto a one inch thick wood plaque and spent about 18 hours total cutting all of it out (I made it very complex) before he sanded and stained it. He wanted to show everyone, which I was a bit upset that he was getting all the praise for how it looked, like HE came up with the concept… He can’t draw a stick figure! But he also wanted me to show one person I’d avoided showing it to for one specific reason. No lie, as soon as she saw it, “When’s he gonna make me one?” I laughed and told her when she could pay for the work that goes into it. Then she said she should get it free because she’s family (husband’s ex sister-in-law). We’re trying to make extra money off these things. The wood costs money as does the stain. And so does the time put into creating it. Not to mention the time I put into making that stencil which was such a nightmare I don’t know how I have hair left in my head. I get this all the time and I just want to smack people. A lot of time and work goes into art. Just because it’s my passion and it’s my talent and I love it doesn’t mean I don’t work like a dog because I do. And it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get paid.

She of course got him a bottle of water to take with him. He didn’t speak English very well but he was really polite, the opposite of entitlement.

@celianunn20702 жыл бұрын
I've had to do that too but here's the issue, they ARE being entitled. YOU worked for that money, it is YOURS. There is nothing wrong with helping out, but giving EVERYTHING is unreasonable. Does she expect you to live with her forever until she dies? Watch how quickly she will ask for more, say it's never enough, or throw it in your face once YOU want something for yourself. Are YOU renting or owning the house? If not, it is NOT your responsibility. I understand it's your mom, but moms can be toxic and financially abusive to their kids. Even if you think "no, never MY mom, not in MY family". That is actually a dangerous mentality. Bad people are in ALL families. NO ONE is immune to greed, entitlement, or toxic behaviors. She will forever treat you like a child because she won't see you as your own grown person until boundaries are set and respected. I'm sorry to tell you that, and you may be in denial about it, but I hope you realize what is REALLY happening, before it is too late

The final straw was when, after a night out, she was so drunk that she vomited multiple times in my car on the way home. Had to carry her inside (she lived at home) then spend the rest of the night trying to clean my car. Eventually had to pay $400 to get it professionally cleaned as the 'fluids' had soaked though the carpet & the smell was disgusting. Also had to replace handmade sheepskin seat covers ($300). When I asked her to put some money towards the cleanup/mess, she denied everything, called me a liar, etc., etc. Daddy took his daughters side even though he opened the front door on the night/morning (2.00am) in question. If you choose to do something for a close friend or family, that is YOUR choice. @@oscardog6719 I get what you're saying however servers are "tipped" or payed on the experience they give the diner here. The food costs simply don't allow for the owners to pay much more without supplementing somewhere, which is why tipping is a thing.. is serving in Australia a living wage?
