This song tells the story of a family going through a divorce with a child, told from the mothers perspective. When writing this song along with Toby Waters and Tavie Basarich, we captured the vision of what unfortunetly goes on with some families around the world. Although this isn't telling my story, I am a child of divorce, it’s hard for everyone involved no matter the circumstances. I hope you enjoy the song and the video, and please share!

This is insane, this song just sang my literal life. My name is Shelby and my dad had a drinking problem and my mom often had to take me away to a hotel. She tried to make it fun, and it kinda was, but I always knew we were ESCAPING from him because he could hurt us. And now he's dead. I live at home with mom and we can just be US now without him. I can't believe how accurate to my life this is, that's so crazy. Excuse me while I cry from catharsis.

Watching this lovely video gets me thinking of how much "Daddy's Girl" my daughter has been to me - she turns 30 next week, and her Mum and I broke up when she was just one! But her care was always shared, and I had her with me every weekend; she was surrounded by love.

Beautiful song Charly, my marriage broke down on 7th March 2001 with two small daughters and a 21 month old son, every other weekend for many years I faithfully picked them up, took them home and spent quality time with them, today they are all adults, one daughter has given me 5 granddaughters and I have a wonderful relationship with them all, base don love and respect

I’m going to cry. This means so much to me. My name is shelby and my parents divorced when I was young and even though it was my moms fault for the divorce I don’t want to fully put it on her.
