There's lots of alleged "free fishing" in and around the Aire. Somebody I know fished a stretch for years having been told in a tackle shop it was free fishing only to to find a club had the fishing rights for decades when he was challenged by one of their bailiffs.

Ferrybridge Complex WF11 8ND. River Aire left bank commences approx 100yds below old A1 road bridge for approx 500 yards downstream. Also 2 lakes at bottom of fishery. Also right bank from canal mouth downstream to weir.

Right bank is only the very short length from the canal mouth upstream to the pub. Leeds DASA do not have the fishing rights downstream of the canal mouth on the right bank.

@@Charlyfarly2 oh right. I've just typed exactly what it says in my Leeds 2024 permit, I note lads fishing without a permit, I pay £70 a year! I only got it for the rivers, If you think about it, you only get half a year, January to March is a waste of time, then it's closed season, so your season actually starts the middle of June, even though the book runs January to December. Last year, I fished till October, then it was a washout. It's the same as Bradford book, £60, the Calder through Brighouse, you meet lads who think it's free. I meet a lot on the Don at Doncaster especially the prison end, who think it's free fishing, they just wander out of the town centre and start fishing. Again, it's now £35 a year 👍

Why do leeds have this btw ? No signs, no pegs built. Doesn't make much sense.
