Have enjoyed watching pausing and rewinding your video last couple of days. What sort of light did you use to enable the bats to appear silvery? It's a beautiful effect. Adam

We have one just the same & it's interesting to see the numbers increase as spring turns to summer. If you'd like to see & `hear` some Daubenton's bats (which are pretty big), pop along to North bridge in Ripon - they are mostly upstream & on a warm night with little breeze are a doddle to spot about a foot above the water & easy to pick up on the monitor. No barbel for me yet this season - not enough hours on the bank!

Good stuff.....I've looked into buying a bat detecter but they are quite pricey....if I was to get one I would get that same model you have as they are probably the cheapest model on the market that still has a wide enough frequency to detect a good amount of different species....the cheaper ones have smaller ranges so arent as worth buying....where as a lot of other higher quality ones are very expensive

The haynes bat detector is about £20. It works very well.

The three Pipistrelles will be Nathusius's, Soprano and Common. Not sure which of the unspecified ones are Soprano or common

I filmed this at shipton area do you think it's a noctule? Cheers.

The big bats have the same flight patterns as the one you videoed. The are the first to appear but disappear as the pipistrelles appear. There is at least one other species of intermediate size. I haven't a clue what they are but this clip may sort out the biggest: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXiWf6iqZ5WGl8k We need an expert.

Thanks for you concern but I am fine. The number of jobs needing doing was building to stress levels and several blanks didn't help. As the jobs list is now back to manageable levels I will be back out shortly but that is no guarantee that the blanks don't continue.

At least you can catch barbel- I've been fishing for 10 years and haven't managed it yet unfortunately haha! I'm glad to hear you're well :)
