Oh... Oh my... Doing a tie dye day with some buddies. Was looking for some fun patterns. Ended up here. The idea of a, like, hidden picture inspiring the design is SO GOOD. Like seeding a random number generator with a name or funny phrase. A little Easter egg tucked away in causal chain... My gym tank tops gonna have a secret teddy bear or something and I'm stoked. Sorry. Ranting. Thank you for the fun idea!

Where can I get soda ash? Is it completely necessary to use?

Yes for fiber reactive dyes. I buy mine in bulk from my local pool and spa store but you can get some on Amazon as well.

Thanks, it's really beautiful. Please I have a question, why do you soak the fabric in soda ash? Secondly, is the dye mixed with cold water and what is in its content.

Thank you! Soda ash is what makes the dye bond with the fabric to keep it bright and last for a long time. The dye is mixed with lukewarm water and I just follow the dye mixing instructions from Dharma Trading Comoany’s website 😊

Am planning to try this method of yours, reason why am asking because here in Nigeria, we mix the dye with caustic soda and Hydrosulphite with boiling water and not lukewarm. Does it mean after soaking in soda Ash, the dye content wont have the chemicals I mentioned before or what exactly is the content in the squirt bottle?
