This episode follows a tradition in the series. Every time Shannen Doherty directs an episode, the one before finds a way to take Prue out of the story to allow Shannen more time to prepare. In this case, she gets turned into a dog, meaning Shannen doesn't have to film as many scenes so she can prepare for All Hell Breaks Loose.

I only noticed this as an adult but in situations where Witches turn evil (Evil Witch, Succubus, Wendigo, Vampire or Banshee) there are no vanquishing spells or potions in any Book of Shadows. And this is because there is a window of opportunity to save them.

During this episode they turned prue into a dog, because by season 3B Alyssa and Shannen were feuding with each other so much that the producers/writers were thinking of creative ways for the two actresses to film scenes separately. You can see it in their body language that they hated each other by then.

I kind of wish that instead of killing Prue that they kept the dog on the show as Prue, kind of like how in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Amy becomes a rat and Willow over the next couple seasons is still trying to figure out how to turn her back. They could have still introduced Paige because they would need the power of three obviously but maybe eventually they might have "Cured" Prue but maybe she wouldn't look the same (different actress) and she would have to get used to her new self. It happens in The Worst Witch, a show you can watch on Netflix currently if you haven't already. I wrote a whole fanfic about this theory, except in my fanfic Prue had a daughter 😅 Anyways, I would be interested in anyone's opinion on this.

you know what is funny about this show I mean in the first season Andy died and suddenly Prue didn't want nothing with magic anymore but later she recovers the same happen when Prue died in the third season and in the fourth season Piper wanted nothing with magic since she believed magic failed them for not helping them to bring Prue back or at least see her. In the fifth season even though Leo didn't die he become an elder and went to the heavens permanently Piper once again thought that because of her status of Charmed One lost another person who was important to her. In the sixth season Chris died( yeah still hurts I think I cried more with Chris's death more than Prue's death to be honest) and Leo become furious and ended up killing the person who took his son's life and started hunting down demons in the seventh season more specifically Barbas as he believed that because he worked for Gideon to kidnap Wyatt he also is responsible for Chris's death. The truth is the reason why he spent his time in the underworld killing demons was his way to grieve Chris's death and also because he thought that if he killed most of the demons that endanger his family, his sons will be safe while Piper refuse to take him out of the manor afraid something might happen to him but later the things got worse when Barbas tried to kidnap Chris and he went after him who tricked him into killing another Elder by accident.

Domihork Because that is her character. As the eldest sibling, she always wants to protect her baby sisters. So, jumping to the front of the line and risk danger to herself by turning into whatever and take action, not caring whatever is gonna happen to her is just her first instincts to do when trouble comes. It is also in her character to take charge of things ever since their mother died, taking care of her sisters while they're growing up.
