Hello.Can you explain how to file in folder permanent notices to mariners? I have already learned from you another video that we must file t&p notices and how to file .But i would like to know how to file notices regarding to publications and permanent notices for mariners

Sir, Permanent chart correction need not be filed. Publication correction (any hard cover book is valid for more than 1 year, like ASD, MARINERS HAND BOOK etc., where as soft cover books like ALRS, ALFS, ATT are all valid for 1 year - Basically a thumb rule for publication correction). So, if its soft cover, correction is to be cut and pasted on the book itself, where as if its a hard cover, correction should be kept in a file, and correction number written on the first page. Kindly watch ASD, ALRS, ALFS individual video regarding a correct understanding. I have already uploaded such videos for easy reference in my channel. Regards.

how would you know the chart you need to correct?

Sir, first you should have an inventory of all charts onboard. Then, going to NTM, and referring to list of charts affected, you can find out if any chart onboard is having correction. I have already posted a 3 part video on NTM - how to use, on the channel. Do refer it accordingly. Thank you sir.

Sir, i have read your question on the date it was posted. Still, i had some doubt. So, i have sent it for clarification. Hence the delay. As per my understanding, these are charts that are printed for a short duration, before a fully accurate chart is printed. But, still I'm not sure. Let me get back once I get an accurate reply. We use the X prefix where we need to have 2 editions of a chart temporarily available at the same time. The most likely reason for this is where significant changes to navigation will occur at a set date (e.g. changes to traffic separation schemes) and mariners will need to have both versions of the chart on board so they are covered should they be at sea in that area just before or just after the change. Ahead of the change we'll add the X prefix to the current edition and release the new edition of the chart, once the change has occurred we'll withdraw the X version." @@prasobhsugadhan When I was updating np131 chart catalogue I noticed in the notices to mariners that there are 2 sub-sections in section 1 (intention to withdrawn charts and admiralty charts independently withdrawn).What's the difference between them?

That is a tracing sheet. It will be provided by your chart supplier. You will have to keep them updated every week for charts onboard. Its a paid service. Regards ♥️

sir why are charts corrected from latest to last?

No sir, you will have to correct from last to latest in case of normal chart correction (because, suppose you have a light house added maybe in wk 10/22 and you get a correction on its characteristics on wk 30/22, you won't be able ro find the light unless you had done the first corrections). In case of T&P, you will correct from latest to last (wrt corrections in force updated monthly) But, before you correct your charts, you should check the latest editions as well as the corrections (except T & P, which is given only in monthly in force list) which are applicable to your chart. Maybe, your chart might had expired with a new edition already published, and hence the chart onboard might not be of any use. Hope I clarified your query. Thank you.

Thank you sir, I was having this doubt since day one. I am preparing for function 1 exams for my orals . A lot of places have published charts to be corrected from latest to last. Which got me very confused . On board also we corrected from last to latest Thank you sir
