I noticed that the new ones have Duncan pups with a blade switch. Plus the truss rod adjustment is at the base of the neck. Mine is just like yours. I loved that $899 got me one of the best hard cases ever. Love the socal.

one of the best modern charvels made to date IMHO, I only have about 15 charvy so far from an expert or anything but I can tell a lot by looking at a guitar anymore and I have seen a lot, A. this one has the deck level floyd which is nice, has a nice maple neck as in grain, they all did all these 2010s even the rear route, has the made in japan on headstock which is very rare indeed, fantastic pups, and its a charvel.. one of the best right here and if I am full of it try to find one...

Great video Cameron. Your video helped me decide on a Black SoCal MIJ of my own. Found it in Canada brand new, never played, though I had to pay full price, but that ok. Still waiting for it to arrive. Kind of bummed they didn't had a case for it. I was wondering, is your case a SKB66 Pro, if not what is it and how's the fit?

Did you get it from LA MUSIC in Toronto?

+Cameron Cooper I was actually asking +Paul Miller about his so cal. But thats a cool story about how yours travelled around the globe...lol. I had about 5 MIJ Charvels over the last 3 years and foolishly sold them. Very hard to get that quality again at that price.
@paulmiller13158 жыл бұрын
+howlingmaddmurdock Yes! I found and bought it through the website REVERB. Com, which LA Music placed an ad in. Are you thinking of getting one for there?
@howlingmaddmurdock8 жыл бұрын
+paul miller No.. I live close to LA Music in Toronto and I saw the black one hanging behind the counter. This was when there were very few MIJ left in Canada and they only had one black one left. I was just curious if it was you that grabbed it...lol. They are a very reputable shop and I know the owner Mario, his sons and their salesman/Inventory guy Sam. They are all great to deal with. Glad you grabbed it. I foolishly sold all my MIJ Charvels to fund other guitars.

I have an original slime green USA-built so-cal with Dimarzio's and I've tried others (newer ones) with Seymour duncans but they lack the punch imo... With the Dimarzio's I can play jazz/blues and shred metal riffs If I want to, but the seymour duncan's just don't cut it. Too bad they ultimately went for those because it takes a lot of potential out of these really fine guitars... I'm not saying SD's are bad!! Definately not but if you want more versitality, the VAI dimarzio's are the way to go :) Awesome demo btw, keep up the good work :)
@CameronCooper8 жыл бұрын
+jvnktube Thanks so much, cheers for commenting. I agree with you about how awesome the Dimarzios are. In my opinion though, the Seymour Duncans win over Dimarzios when they're screwed directly into the body. I have no idea why, they just sound so much fatter :)
@jvnktube8 жыл бұрын
I wonder how dimarzios would sound screwed directly into the body.. You're giving me great ideas my friend, if it doesn't work, maybe I'll even try the Seymours ;) Cheers!

+Tim Smallwood They no longer produce these in Japan, I just bought a 2010 MIJ and sent a reqquest in to charvel/fender for more info. What i was told was the MIJ were produced from 7/2010 to 9/2012. These are now made in Mexico in the same building as Fender (or USA custom shop but alot more$$$). everyone I've talked to before buying my MIJ 5 days ago, all said the MIJ are superior to even the custom shop. I havent played either the MIM or the custom, but this MIJ is awesome, have barley put it down since getting it

I have this exact model, extremely great guitar. However someone put an EVH frankenstein pickup in the bridge, and I think that is stealing from its glory a bit. I do not know if I want to get whatever dimarzio it came with, and install that or go with something else. I know I want it a bit darker, thicker and more articulate than the EVH. I was hoping when I bought the guitar I would like the evh, I am going to go lower it a bit , it looks high, maybe that will fix it, would not be the first time...
@CameronCooper Жыл бұрын
The original pickups were Dimarzios Tonezone in the bridge and Evolution in the neck if you ever needed help choosing.
@tankdarla637 Жыл бұрын
@@CameronCooper Thank you! I think I want the original tonezone then back in the bridge. You play pretty much the same music I TRY to play. I collect Japanese Jacksons and I am blown away by the Charvel, I lowered the EVH pickup and I am okay with it , still a bit barky to me though, for lack of a better word lol. Maybe I should go even lower...it was really high. pickup height.

Hey man, great demo ! I am thinking about getting one myself but i'm having a real hard time deciding between the MIJ version and the MIM version so I would really appreciate it if you could make a comparison video or even just reply to this comment describing your preference (having played both models). Thanks xD
@CameronCooper9 жыл бұрын
+galking371 Well without a moments hesitation I would say MIJ are the best as they are a far more solid guitar, made with better woods and finished far better. Remember dude, the Charvel MIM models I have are the very limited Super Stocks which are of far higher quality than the standard MIM. After playing many MIM charvels (dis-regarding the Super Stocks), some feel and sound excellent and some can be not so good. It can be quite hit and miss with the Mexican Charvels whereas with the Japanese range it is 'almost' guaranteed you will great a guitar for the reasons i explained above. As I say again, go for the a MIJ one if you can find one in a colour which suits you best or if you are really lucky, try and find a second-hand USA model as they are pretty much the same quality as the MIJ models. I hope this helps dude :)

How does it compare this to your rg2620 quality wise ? Also how do the necks compare? Amazing playi g as always man!
@CameronCooper6 жыл бұрын
Jason Mitropias I fully enough sold my ibanez a couple of months ago. They are very different beasts but are designed to do the same thing. If you're used to playing strats, the Charvel will feel very familiar. The ibanez has a completely different feel, the neck had less depth but was a lot wider. Both of the guitars were hight quality, but the Charvel stayed in tune way better and is easier when it comes to string changes. :)

Shit, I'm serioulsy jealous AF. I mean fuck, Japanese no longer exists, and you find one half price... xD (It's not my channel but... If you're looking for a really great guitar player and Charvel fan... Check Neogeofanatic's channel). The guitar you're showing is his fave guitar ever, calling it "Red Alert" ! And he's succeed to get an endorse by Charvel :D (sorry about mistakes, French guy over here) Cheers !

@CameronCooper9 жыл бұрын
+MHMendes They are both totally different guitars altogether. If you are more into your hard rock and want to stick with the Strat vibe go for a Charvel. However Ibanez guitars are built for more of a heavy metal/ultimate performance guitar players (in my eyes). Personal favorites are Charvels but I do love Ibanez's a lot! Hope this helps :)

If those strings were 6 years old, they wouldn't hold tune. Even strings have a shelf life.
@CameronCooper9 жыл бұрын
+tvelt17 I know that man, I kinda regret saying this in the video. But my reasoning behind it is because the guy said the guitar had 'never left its case' since he bought it and had 'never been played' as he didn't like Floyd Roses. The frets at the moment are very shiny, but the strings however are getting dark. They look really old but sound like new. I will probably break one in the next few days ahah. Cheers for commenting :)
