First of all, here’s is some really great information about the pedal. There’s a supplemental manual that was created by @jshimchi tinyurl.com/y7... , it’s great! There’s also a really nice excel sheet with a delay time calculator and tons of other info that myself and Zoooombiex worked on (he did the hard work). tinyurl.com/yc... . I want to thank these two guys and Joel for helping so much with this video. I tried to make it as comprehensive as possible while keeping it entertaining. If you have questions, just ask!
The Thermae from Chase Bliss Audio… Straight up, an awesome analog delay with a really interesting modulation circuit. It goes so far beyond delay though. There’s a 3-step sequencer that uses delay time to hit certain intervals (+/- 2 octaves and +/- 4ths and 5ths). This can sequence automatically, based on your tap tempo and time divisions or it can be cycled manually. One of the most interesting… and kind of mysterious pedals I’ve had. You can get super in depth with it or you can just play along with it. Either way, it’s super fun.

I seem to have a knack for showing up late to a party but this is the best demo of the Thermae on the internet, in my humble opinion (I would argue it's even more meaningful than the almighty Knob's effort; blasphemy, I know).

Oh now you're speaking my language! I love BoC so you definitely hear soem influence in there. First of all, I'm really happy you found this video helpful. The Thermae is a wild pedal (if you want it to be) but it also has some of the coolest modulation I've heard in a delay. Honestly, if I had to pick one pedal to get that BoC vibe, it would be the Zvex Instant Lo-Fi Junky. It's got great modulation and compression. That would be my go to pedal for that stuff. That being said, you have a TON more options with the Thermae (obviously). Check out my video on the Infinite Jets, it's a weird one :)

Really really nice video. I do have a question though. Is there any way for me to sync up the sequences with my playing? Due to the fact that the sequences are not envelope triggered (I believe) the sequence does not start when I start to play. Additionally there is no indicator for how far I am into the sequence thus making it nearly impossible for me to know when to start playing. Is it possible to hook it up to another pedal (something like a midi clock or some sort of midi controller) that triggers the sequence only when there is audio input?
@aBunchOfPedals

Thanks for positive feedback, much appreciated and I’m glad you liked the video. Damn, that’s a good question. I’m not exactly sure to be completely honest. For anyone asking the same question, if you don’t think you’ll use the pitch shifting feature (which is not always the easiest to integrate into a song); the blue-knob Tonal Recall is all you need. If you don’t need the dip switches / modulation possibilities of Chase Bliss pedals, there are a lot of other great analog delay options (DM2, Carbon Copy, Memory Boy, Aqua Puss...)

Yea it seems like they’re really hard to get and honestly, $600 isn’t worth it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing pedal and I’ll never get rid of mine. A great alternative is the Demedash Effects t-120 (regular or deluxe version). It’s got solid delay and the modulation is amazing. Also king of pricey and it doesn’t come with all the fancy bells and whistles. Or if you want a really cool (this might be my favorite pedal of all time). Think of it as a pedal you don’t stomp on. Beyond that, they are as well made as any pedal I have ever owned...if stomping is your jam. I keep some on the floor, and for some, the hand is quicker than the stomp.

MCHiphopotamus lol, you felt that deep in your soul. I think it’s just the delay chips. It’s hard to get analog delay to sound super clear with massive delay times. This does get noisy... personally, I don’t mind, I thinking works perfectly for what I’m after. If I want prestige delay I’ll go either with the Echosystem or the Polymoon if I want something weird. What delays are you rocking?
