Thank you for making this pedal make sense. When I first saw this announced I was kinda meh about it but now maybe it’s coming across as the most useful and musical of all the glitchies.

Maybe the best pedal for your playing- so organic, such a great extension to an artist’s gesture.

from all the vids I've got the opposite impression: it needs to be carefully blended, and begs for midi control
@swampflux5 күн бұрын
WOW is right! As a designer, I’m SO REFRESHED at how this pedal has a strong opinion and focuses 10X in on just the kind of sound it’s good at. Every demo here was beautiful! (I think you were playing very well too. Feelin’ it!) but then it takes that narrow window of options and still lets you tweak and tune them to taste. I’m REALLY impressed by this. Someone try this pedal with accordion please; I bet it sounds otherworldly.
@kaitlyn__L5 күн бұрын
As an instrumentalist, I also always appreciate when something has a particular sound and OWNS it. These chameleon pedals/synths just don’t inspire me at all. A weird pedal can get me going just like a weird guitar pickup or an odd-sounding sax neck.
@yurijogurtsov87105 күн бұрын
@@kaitlyn__L this particular one is really hard to control in any way. and while it's focused, contrary to what Swampflux says, some of its knobs' range is also limited - SRR (and it sounds no good), Octave (just one octave up and down, could be a switch), filter (and hidden), etc.
@kaitlyn__L5 күн бұрын
@@yurijogurtsov8710 sure, I’m not currently looking to buy pedals so I’ve not looked into that. But ease of control is also very important to me - if a synth with four knobs and a screen sounds the same as one with 40 knobs or sliders, I’ll pay extra for the latter. But if the sound doesn’t grip me to begin with, then it’s irrelevant either way.

Epic! Wondering what would it sound like with a piano!
@GizzyDillespee5 күн бұрын
Heck yeah sensitivity/threshold is one of the secret reasons (up til now) that I've used pedal envelope filters with velocity sensitive polysynths that have their own per-voice filters. It would be nice to have that in a glitch looper, and I don't already have a microcosm. I'll have to see what they're charging. This one seems to sound good. There have been a couple others that interested me but failed my "sounds good" test. Not my favorite drive here, but not the worst. I like the "headroom saturation in stereo" sound I heard though.
@GizzyDillespee5 күн бұрын
That reminds me, I haven't done the pedal filter thing in a hot minute. I should bring them back out. I did it too much - I was using them on piano sounds for a while, before the intervention. Well, I think they were wrong - I think I could stop at just 2 pedals next time.

Sorry, I'm confused a bit- from 5:45 to around 6:05 the error side of the pedal is being adjusted but the red light on the error side isn't on, as if that part of the pedal is turned off? But I'm new to CBA so I don't really know how it works!
@ryanworthley45555 күн бұрын
All six knobs are adjusting parameters for both glitch and freeze. A few CB pedals have knobs that only correspond to certain sides of the effect, for example MOOD MKII but that’s not the case with Onward. I hope that’s helpful!

@@jaygilligan no problem!
@yurijogurtsov87105 күн бұрын
@@ryanworthley4555 you sure octave influences the glitch side? or size influences the sustain part? the reason why glitch works with the light off, is because the error knob is turned CW - the button itself only 'freezes' the current glitchy slice and repeats it until the new audio comes in.
@ryanworthley45555 күн бұрын
@@yurijogurtsov8710 I’m sure! The size knob for freeze increases or decreases the length of the freeze buffer for the glitch side. True you can get some glitchy sounds with the freeze using the error knob though! The octave knob affects both channels. You can isolate what channels are affected by using the alt gestures though. I hope that’s helpful!

@BrockDavisson5 күн бұрын
It's not about whether another pedal can do something like this, but more about how different pedals with maybe similar stuff can make someone write differently. I can almost bet anyone with a zoia and anyone with onward, is going to write differently on both if you had a similar sound going on. Also I have had ZOIA since launch over 5 years ago, and I also have onward now, and to me both are amazing to have and I don't really get the feeling of zoia out of onward or vice versa.
