Nice video man, I'm considering a WV and wasn't sure which way to go so your video helped a lot 👍 Tbh I think I prefer the MkII, sounds warmer, think the HiFi adds a lot of top on the original signal and colours the sound too much, sounds a little harsh and brittle to my ear too, just an opinion 😉 Plus if you're missing the top end you can always use a treble booster I guess.

Yeah, admittedly really never wanna hear that lick again but super useful! Thanks for doing this!

great comparison. i prefer the warm analog MKII, especially in vibrato setting.😀 and this is why i mainly bought it - for lofi warped vinyl😃

great video. Very useful for those on the fence. I still like the Hi-Fi better.

Thank you! I think the Hi-Fi is hands-down more versatile, but when you need that back-alley, wooly tone, it can be pretty nice to have a MKII on hand as well!

good demo man. i used warped vinyl for a years, love this pedal so much especiallly for vibrato sound. (mk2 looks more good sounding to me for the vibrato on this demo). but im sold it after watching fairfield cirquitry youtube video. :D

Thanks Dion! I assume you're talking about the Shallow Water...man, that's a great pedal too, and also capable of hitting that MKII dark and fuzzy territory. Are 3 vibrato/choruses too many? I keep telling myself "no"!

I had to get rid of my Shallow Water, kept getting weird feedback from it.

I’m going to put my Zvex Lo-Fi Junkie in front of the Warped Vinyl Hi-Fi and just use the tone control on the Junkie to simulate a MKII. Best of both worlds. Just waiting for the Warped Hi-Fi to be delivered.

I wish the tone control on the Hi-Fi went down to the 50% mark on the MKII. The 0% tone on the MKII seems a bit too muffled for me (especially with distortion), but everything from 50% on the Mk II to 100% on the Hi-Fi is just brilliant. I do think the Hi-Fi is a bit bright with that clean sound, but with the distortion it’s fabulous. Random aside, minus the filter sound, this reminded me so much of the intro/outro sound on the album Jesus Freak (0:00-0:19 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYKWaGOPfaqHrLs)

I was considering buying one of these but to be honest I can totally coax a very similar sound out of my Julianna and not spend around $500 for a little extra craziness that I'm not going to use

Thanks--it's going straight from the pedal into an Egnater Tweaker 15. Can't remember which channel though...probably USA or Brit.

Couldn't someone basically turn either one of these into the other one by using the tone knobs on guitar and the EQ on the Amp?
@ElliotGKnapp3 жыл бұрын
They're pretty different sounding and designed differently--your amp can't add back frequencies that have been filtered out by the preceding tone stack, and there are other features (like the Lag control) that make the circuits different. That said, yeah, you can turn up the treble on your amp to make it brighter...but it's not going to turn a MKII into a HiFi.

@@ElliotGKnapp Thanks for answering my inquiry. Hopefully I'll understand this type of thing better when I actually start playing my guitar through an amp!

Take note aspiring demoers, this how you do a demo. I'm torn between the Warped Vinyl and Shallow Water. Any advice? @elliot knapp
@ElliotGKnapp5 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much--it's certainly not the most exciting demo but I believe a shootout requires direct comparison to be most useful. As far as Shallow Water goes, I have yet to REALLY dive in (i.e., use it throughout a whole album), so I can't be confident, but observations so far: with its low-pass filter, it's tonally capable of hitting similar spots to the MKII (that super rubbery sound). The appeal, to my ears so far, is the fact that it's "random," which manifests in a kind of analog-glitchy way on slower/shallower settings, and kind of manically on higher speeds and depth...whereas with the WVs, the closest you can get to random is interlocking ramping patterns. Since the SW has a mix knob, you can conjure up chorus tones like the WV. At this point, if I had to keep only one, it would be the Hi-Fi, as it's the most complete version of both a traditional chorus and vibrato and can hit the broadest range of tones. But, I'm getting into the next album and the Shallow Water is on the list to fully explore so I will have to report back!

Hey guys what to choose? I have the Fairfield C. shallow water, but don't know which one for a combo? I like the MKII better, smoother etc. but how about combo with shallow water? Never too many vibrato.
@ElliotGKnapp6 жыл бұрын
Howdy, I, too am a Shallow Water owner! If I were limited to Shallow Water and just one WV, I would go with the Hi-Fi, since it's capable of getting much brighter and going farther into chorus territory. The Shallow Water sometimes reminds me of a MKII with several parameters ramping, so you get that glitchy, randomized thing going on. With its low pass filter, it can go very dark and wooly like a MKII. In other words, if I needed to use a Shallow Water to fake a WV, it would be a more convincing imitation to try and approximate a MKII! Happy vibing...
@MrGruzz6 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks a lot, I'm not into chorus, but rather weird sound, slow vibrato, tape cassette sound. I can get that with shallow water, but sometimes need something regular or total disaster :) combo. (edited) Ok listened on headphones and Hifi will be more versatile with shallow water combo thx.
@ElliotGKnapp6 жыл бұрын
Nice! FYI the lag control just adds delay to the wet signal, which makes the chorus sound fuller--if you're using it on only vibrato, it will delay your entire signal since you're using all wet, so not really a benefit to using lag on vibrato. You should still be able to get some fairly dark sounds with the Hi-Fi, and I think the overall speed range is the same or greater than the MKII. Vibrato range is definitely wider in Hi Fi.
