In fairness, why did it take that long for an official to get into position to get the ball for it to be spotted (tackled at 39 seconds, doesn't enter frame until 34 seconds)? But yes, that was a 0-IQ sequence.

This is one of the worst mental mistakes I’ve ever seen in professional football. Good on the lineman for knowing the situation and trying to get the ball from this dude before he tried a double backflip or something. The fact that it popped out is 100% on Claypool. In a late game situation you are taught to SPRINT the ball to the closest ref. It’s peewee league stuff that you should pick up on when you are first learning the game. How he can be so unaware is truly amazing. If I were his teammate I’d be absolutely livid with him

He was fine when he was a little known #3 WR.... but it sure seems like that initial success in his rookie season went to his head. Then Claypool suddenly became the #1/#2 WR Pittsburgh tried to lean on and the results were disastrous. He was equally terrible after being traded to Chicago, where he again found himself atop the WR depth chart. After the DJ Moore trade, Chicago can slide Claypool back into the #3, #2 at best, Wide Receiver spot where he excelled with the Steelers - I wouldn't be shocked if Claypool rebounds big time this season.

To be fair the scenario is different, that play is a potential momentum changing play and DID help the Steelers mount a comeback. The point of celebrating there is to get the team energized and back into feeling like they could have a chance. He was literally called the "Canadian Megatron" lol that can't be good for a young guy's ego, plus the success he saw in his rookie season as Pittsburgh's #3/#2 WR. As the third or fourth option on offense, he excelled. Once Pittsburgh tried to lean on him as the top receiver, #2 at worst, the wheels fell off. Then Chicago traded for him and he continued to struggle as their #1 receiver. After the DJ Moore trade, Claypool can slide back down to the 3rd or 4th option in Chicago's offense, where he belongs, and I wouldn't be shocked if he has a helluva rebound season in 2023.

This is just a younger version of Cam Newton. When you're more interested in your antics than the game...you are no good for the game. There was a Panthers game many years ago where Cam scrambled for a first down. He got up and sprinted another 10 yards up field and did the finger point for 1st Down. When he turned around his whole offense was down on the ball waiting on him as the clock was running down.
