Kinda sad how the actual ZL1 1LE that the Chevy cup cars are based of off have more horsepower than what they're gonna be driving next year. I've been cautiously optimistic up until recently, slower lap times than the Xfinity cars is kinda a big red flag. We want high horsepower, low down force, but more than likely that won't happen ever again the way that we want it

@NolanEP Not necessarily. When you go with wider tire, you increase the tire footprint. That means more square inches of footprint. Down-force on each tire may actually be lowered because more square inches of footprint. Down force is measured by PSI (pounds/ sq, in.). There is a point of diminishing return on tire width, hopefully NASCAR did that math but...I doubt it. Most likely, someone just thought it would look better. The taller and wider tire causes all suspension and setup books to be near obsolete. Changes all the down-force, tire pressures and geometry. Another shortsighted NASCAR decision. Gold mine for Goodyear and NASCAR though.

They only thing they weren't doing was trying to follow close or pass each other (Because they already know it's a plow) A lot of testing has gone on long before this, the cars are slower because they want them slower (Insurers for the track). And it's a completely different car with the big wheels and tires, aero profile. Setups, even tire pressures are a crap shoot right now. Might take a year to figure the car out. Just hope they don't go back to bump stops to make it turn like they did with the COT car POS.

I think this formula will end up like the old Indy Racing League mandated rear wing regulation (the pack racing) but it'll work just right for NASCAR. At those speeds if you want good racing you need the right amount of drag, downforce and power, it looks like NASCAR nailed it. Time will tell.

get the cars up off of the track so the air goes under the car not over the car to create downforce. that way getting behind a car will not affect your down force and allow the car behind to pull out and pass. now when you get behind another car the driver loses the front end bite.

Thats why if you noticed the front splitter is only on the left front and right front, the middle of the front is off the ground, also the rear diffuser will help. Have you seen the bottom of theses cars, they are completely flat, they are making way more downforce from underneath than from the top which will help the cars behind as well. Also the cars wont be skewed so no more side force

Letting the air escape out the bottom of the car is just as important for downforce as air going over the car, simplified...let more air out from underneath and create less lift equals more downforce

This new car IS off the ground. Problem is there is still too much downforce and too little power. They are trying to created more downforce on the underside of the car, which is good. But they need to remove downforce from the body itself and spoiler. Can't have both. Plus, if downforce is generated more so with the underbody, that will help them in traffic, which is a goal of their's.

These new cars & changes will cause fans to walk away by not watching or attending a race once they see how the cars run in a race. Nascar should have left well enough alone but they want 40 dead even slow cars on the track at once instead of actual racing on the track. It's just like when they got rid of the older or short tracks such as Rockingham or North Wilkesboro in favor of new 1.5 mile cookie cutter tracks, now they closing those or taking dates away bc of attendance & wanting more short tracks. Nascar can't you learn from past mistakes & be happy with the product you have, not everyone in the US cares about so called stock car racing, it's more of a southern sport than a national sport. The other group of people watch Indy or IMSA racing, the oval track attendance will always suffer when you not racing in the southeast on an oval.
